One of Peter Jackson's earliest directing efforts, Dead Alive (also known as Braindead outside of North America) has been confirmed for Blu-ray courtesy of Lionsgate. The film is one of the highlights of Jackson's splatter period and is often credited as one of the goriest fright movies of all time.

The film focuses on Lionel (Timothy Balm), whose mother (Elizabeth Moody, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring) is bitten by a Sumatran rat-monkey and transformed into a flesh eating zombie. Lionel is then left with the task of stopping his mother and the rest of the townsfolk that have been infected.

Technical specifications and special features for Dead Alive have yet to be confirmed. The film will hit retail just in time for Halloween on October 4th. A SRP of $19.98 has been set.
