In an announcement to media outlets, Warner Bros. revealed its plans to bring the 1953 classic House of Wax 3D to Blu-ray 3D. Starring Vincent Price (Edward Scissorhands), the film was among the first feature length films to ever be shot in stereoscopic 3D, ushering in the first 3D craze back in the '50s. Like the modern film starring Paris Hilton, House of Wax was itself a remake of the 1933 film Mystery of the Wax Museum, albeit in name only and with a much bleaker tone. Aside from title information, no special features, technical specs or exact release date have been confirmed. House of Wax 3D hits shelves Q3 2013.
Professor Henry Jarrod (Price), is a true artist whose wax sculptures are lifelike. He specializes in historical tableau's such a Marie Antoinette or Joan of Arc. His business partner, Matthew Burke, needs some of his investment returned to him and pushes Jarrod to have more lurid exposes like a chamber of horrors.
