I know everyone is wondering if there will be another horror marathon in Columbus this year, but as we await word from The Powers That Be I wanted to share the latest in Chicago marathon news. This year on the weekend of October 12-13th promises a lot for the horror fan in Chicago. First is the 24 hour Movieside Massacre now at the beautiful Patio Theatre. Theater is an old school single screen theater reopened last year (or 2 years ago) and they still play a lot of features in 35mm. The Massacre is promising as many of these titles will be 35mm as possible. Last year there wasn't a single digital feature so fingers crossed!

And in addition to the marathon, that Sunday the 13th, the amazing Goblin (Suspiria, Dawn of the Dead, Deep Red, Tenebrae, etc...) will be playing their first live concert at the Metro across the street from Wrigley Field in Chicago.

Hope some of you can make it.

Great line up so far:

Frankenstein Meets The Wolfman (Lugosi & Lon Chaney Jr.)
The Tomb of Ligeia (Vincent Price Classic!)
April Fool's Day (Fred Walton in Person!)
Hellraiser II (Gore Galore!)
Wild Zero (Japanese Rock & Roll Zombies!)

Wonder if they will actually show Slither :D

For those of you keeping score at home, The Gate, Edison's Frankenstein and George Romero's Martin have been added to this lineup.

Also, in case you hadn't noticed, the Music Box Theater in Chicago has announced a partial list for their annual event on the following weekend which includes Maniac Cop 2, Crawlspace, Child's Play, Night Monster, TerrorVision and last year's hit of the Columbus marathon Possession.

With the potential of Shock Around The Clock 5 on the weekend of the 26th, that gives an option for those who are daring and have the ability to travel to attend THREE 24-hour marathons in the month of October.

...

Damn!
