Texas Chainsaw Massacre star Marilyn Burns has died Cult actress Marilyn Burns has died at the age of 65 Marilyn Burns, who was best known for playing Sally Hardesty in the original 1974 Texas Chainsaw Massacre film, has died at the age of 65. Burns was found at her home in Houston, Texas, on August 5. In a statement to E! News, her agent Chris Roe said: "It is with sad news that I can officially confirm that actress, Marilyn Burns passed away earlier today. She was found unresponsive by a family member this morning in her Houston, Texas area home. Her family asks for privacy at this time. Further details will be released later." Burns, whose character in Tobe Hooper's original Texas Chainsaw Massacre was one of the few to survive serial killer Leatherface's murderous spree, appeared in two further versions of the film, in 1994 (The Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre: the Next Generation) and 2013 (Texas Chainsaw 3D). Burns also featured in a number of other horror films, including Hooper's Eaten Alive (1977) and Ronald W Moore's Future-Kill (1985). |
