A little premature, however if I start the thread now, I'll remember occasional thoughts.

And more importantly, others may post thoughts in a timely manner.

Anyway. Strong recommendation for Wes Anderson's Isle of Dogs.

Hugely original. Brand new but not well known.Uses an animation technique that's both weirdly realistic and artificial at the same time. Anime but different.

And it would provide a huge change of pace vs. the usual fodder. Straight forward but subtly hilarious at the same time.
