Bah ... he's not going to see another dime of my money, not after the Special Editions. There was a time when I was willing to forgive the changes in order to see the films on the big screen, but that day is long past.
Lucas lost me with that release, and I further refuse to buy any DVD or BluRay releases that don't feature the original scenes, as shot. I'm certainly not going to watch a masterpiece of filmmaking be cheapened by an optical gimmick.
(I speak, of course, only of the original trilogy ... we won't even discuss the prequels.)
There's an interesting read at The Secret History of Star Wars site about the restoration that went along with the Special Editions ... many may not agree with everything the site has to say (and he seems to have a real mad-on about the inclusion of the Jabba scene) but his sources are valid, and it explains a LOT.
