With the new movie coming out soon and the recent death of Ricardo Montalban, I think there should be a star trek theme. I would recommend Star Trek II, maybe a few episodes of the old animated series or the original TV series … maybe some Star Trek themed shorts (I don’t know if any exist or how hard it would be to find them), and the trailer for the new movie. Someone said they liked the marathon to be bookended; we could start the marathon with Star Trek II (death of Spock) and end it with Star Trek III (return of Spock).

Sounds great. Maybe the original series episode featuring Montalban as the character he played in Star Trek II.

I recall the North had a Star Trek marathon, of sorts, I think before either VI or Generations. For some reason, and I have my theories, but will keep them to myself, the concept of Star Trek films isn't warmly recieved by a lot of posters here. As I said elsewhere, I would like II. I'm not sure about the recpetion for III. I actually liked it. The only Star Trek film I find unwatchable is V, though I don't much like Nemesis or Insurrection. But I digress. I wouldn't mind seeing Free Enterprise thrown in if we are looking for a Trek theme. In all honesty, that might help sell the joint out.

A theme would be ok - but only to a point. I think bookending films (ST II and STIII) would be fine, with maybe one or two "Trek-themed" shorts thrown in.

I think most of the SF fans here are fond of Star Trek, but I think most wouldn't want to consider themselves "Trekkies" - and I think too much Trek in one marathon would drive people a little batty.

I know I wouldn't want an all-Trek marathon. I want more diversity than that in my 'thons.

I'll make my annual requests: Metropolis, both the silent classic and the anime remake, and the Donner cut of Superman II. I also agree with a couple of posters that The Hidden would be fun to see on a screen again.

Well, those bastards in Boston have gotten their hands on a print of Logan's Run.(http://sf.theboard.net/) :(

Stellar lineup they got there. Ironically, I have seen both of those premeires and they both fit in nicely with all those classics. No Automatons in that bunch.

As we all know, Bruce has connections with Boston and uses the same print sources from time to time. So, time for you to step up to the plate, Bruce. Don't let Logan's Run slip away from us like Blade Runner did. (Not that that was your fault, no offense intended you understand). :)

I do want to be clear, the event I mentioned was a seperate non It Came form the Drexel North marathon. It was just a Trek thing they did.

Well to all the nay sayers that Logan's Run was never going to be available,

HA HA!!!

OK, to be a realist here that I hope Joe would not let Logan's Run slip away. This is the highest request flick. OK in demand.

Now here is a revise wishlist:

Star Trek II with the Space Seed episode to screen BEFORE the movie.

Transformers (Animated) movie the PG cut not the FHE version. Since Transformers Revenge of the Fallen is coming this summer.

Since Meet the Feebles wasn't dislike at last year's Horror-thon then Forbidden Zone wouldn't be a problem with it's political incorrectness. It does feature Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo and Danny Elfman.

Masters of the Universe. Starring Oscar nominated Frank Langella and Cortney Cox in her first movie role.

Heavenly Creatures Peter's Jackson's first movie that was nominated for an Oscar. It was reference in last night Simpsons episode.

Metropolis the recent version of the classic movie and the Anime.

The Richard Donner's cut of Superman II.

Bad Taste

Robocop the unrated version. To see Kenney's death scene in full. Yes I watch this movie one to many times.

Alien Trespass.

I'm going to second a vote for -

Laserblast - just found out about this movie recently

Also

The Mind of Mr. Soames -- I've heard the voice over for the trailer and it sounded interesting. Doesn't appear to be available on DVD. Plus Terance Stamp is the lead and you cant go wrong with Zod.

Inseminoid (Horror Planet)-- sounds just awful and would probably make Galaxy of Terror look like an Oscar winner. (also not available on DVD)

Doomsday -- released last year would be a decent choice for a more recent movie

Just those 4 off the top of my head.
