Yes more classics are needed. More movies in anamorphic.

Show Logan's Run in the first four hours.

I've long commented I prefer older films, though I have to say almost all the time I enjoy the premieres, or at least I see why Bruce put them in. As for this movie, I am having a hard time thinking of a movie based on a game that I really liked. I think someone else mentioned CLUE, which is probably the best.

I'm not sure how we lived before Wikipedia, but I found a nice list of video games to movies here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_films_based_on_video_games I have to say there aren't many gems in there. Take Wing Commander for example. I loved those games with a passion that bordered on needing a restraining order. I hated the movie. I think the problem is you have a vision of how the universe the game operates and how things should be. The director, most times, is trying to appeal to a wider audience one that doesn't know the game and would be lost if you made a movie at the level the true fan would want.

Anyhow, looking at that list, I don't see many gems.

Are you sure you want to screen this movie? People don't want to see a movie that is based on a game. This is the first time I criticized one of your choices and I hope this will be the last. Please reconsider.

Trailer looks pretty good.

Movies based on any type of games doesn't translate well and the opposite is true as well. There are exceptions of course.

Is accuracy in adaptation a real concern with this film, though? I mean, it's based off of a Swedish tabletop RPG; I'm willing to bet not too many attendees are going to even notice if some element or another wasn't adapted faithfully for the screen.

Besides, if it is a bust, then surely it just becomes more snark fodder?

@murph!: Seeing the non-canon Doctor Who film at the marathon would be fantastic, though any of the British films would be nice.

Zardoz would probably also fit well, but if it wasn't scheduled at the right time it could lead to problems (too early in the marathon and it's too explicit for the hour, too late and people fall asleep due to the pacing).

The Last Man on Earth I always pictured running as a bookend to The Omega Man (or even I Am Legend).

In one of the Doctor Who Discontinuity Guide(s) The two non cannon Doctor Who Movies did exist in the expanded Whoniverse. In the expanded Whoniverse when Barbra return to earth she wrote two novels of her travels with the Doctor. She sold the movie rights of her two novels and those novels turned into the following movies:

Dr. Who and the Daleks
Dalek's Invasion of Earth 2150 AD

Well, when they make a dozen movies based on role-playing games, and all of them suck, then I will be willing to write them off. Until then, I am willing to give Mutant Chronicles a chance. The movie is booked and it is going to be shown (unless it falls through), so I don't see the point in arguing about it.

As a tribute to the recently departed Forry, who coined the term "sci-fi", we're pleased to be screening the Midwest Premiere of FAMOUS MONSTER: FORREST J. ACKERMAN. The documentary features Ray Bradbury, Lon Chaney Sr & Jr, Fred Olen Ray, Raymond Massey, Joe Dante, Bela Lugosi, Roger Corman, John Landis, Boris Karloff, Vincent Price and many more.

It woul be boring to agree all the time. Plus some of us go to the Sci Fi Thon to see classic science fiction movies on the theater screen than some movie that will be release in to theaters in late April.

I can't wait to see Toyko Gore Police, Time Crime, and Alien Trespass.

I don't want to see the lineup filled with direct to DVD fodder that I can rent them from Netflix.

Sigh... do I really need to point out the inherent contradiction in your own statement? That " a movie that will be released to theaters in late April" is obviously not "direct-to-DVD fodder?" Not to mention the fact that the film is getting a limited release, and will probably not even show in theaters in the state of Ohio. So this will most likely be our only opportunity to see it on the big screen. Alien Trespass is opening limited April 3rd. Does that mean it shouldn't be shown at the marathon either?

Bruce obviously feels that Mutant Chronicles has more promise than the kind of films that Uwe Boll makes. Otherwise he wouldn't have booked it. I like the cast, I like the premise, and I'm interested in seeing the film. If it sucks, I'll be the first one to say so. It can't be any worse than the Helix, for cryin' out loud.

And some of us go to the marathons to see both classics AND premieres! I'm sure there will be plenty of both when the final lineup is solidified. So why complain?

Looking forward to the Forrest Ackerman doc too.

Since you failed to read my post that I'm quoting myselr here that I can't wait to see Tokyo Gore Police, Alien Trespass, Time Crime.

Let me repeat myself that I want to see Tokyo Gore Police, Alien Trespass, and Time Crimes.

Let me reapeat myself that I want to see Tokyo Gore Police, Alien Trespass , and Time Crimes.

I rented Tokyo Gore Police three weeks ago. Enjoy the movie.

There are movies that get released that have no buisness to be released into movie theaters. Mutant Chronicles is one of them. If Mutant Cronicles doesn't get released in Ohio then so be it.

I'm glad that Bruce booked Robocnp, Cat Women from the Moon in 3D, Rollerball. I don't have to like every movie that is booked. I don't care much for gane based movies.

What's with the hating on Mutant Chronicles, a movie that NONE of us has seen yet? If you don't want to see it then go home for two hours and play the role playing game in your parents basement. We have seen some terrible premieres over the years, Helix and Automatons come to mind. But it just seems that someone has a case of "my precious" with the role playing game it's based on. Get over it. I think Bruce has done a steller job with the lineup this year. I'd be really surprised to find anyone who's liked every single movie at any marathon (though Joe's last Studio 35 horror marathon was darn close). I think the trailer for Mutant Chronicles looks okay-not great, but perhaps Starship Troopers 2 level premiere. Way to go with Robocop and Rollerball!
