The Ohio Sci-Fi and Horror Marathons

Jason X has my vote (assuming I can go this year). It always baffles me when people have such intense hatred of one film (especially if it's not even scheduled yet). I know I've been guilty of it at times, like with Sky Captain a few years ago but that had more to do with new film argument. Sky Captain had just played in theaters less than a year before and was released on DVD a few weeks before the marathon. I'm always against any major motion picture that's less than 4 years old playing. Smaller films get more leeway from me. But even then, Sky Captain played at like 5 am and I dozed in and out of it and ultimately didn't care.

It's also a little odd to me that over the years, there have been a number of people who love the sci-fi marathons but hate horror movies. But I don't see that too much from the horror audience. I've always felt that there's so much overlap between the two genres I can't see liking one and not the other. Sure there are titles in each genre that I don't like, and there are titles at each marathon that I don't want to see or care about. But the overall marathon experience is too fun to let a couple of titles have such weight.
