This was on my "must rush out" list and then a situation came up with my vehicle and I could not do anything last weekend. I really wanted to see this on opening day before the reviews started rushing in. As much as I would like to admit they don't, reviews actually DO matter to some degree with regards to my excitement about a new release, especially a high-profile one. In this day and age, it is just so difficult to tune out the "collective mindset" if you will that hovers over things like this.
Thank you for once again giving me a reason for being excited about going out to see it this week. Even if I end up hating it (I have heard it compared to
Southland Tales a time or two, which I loathe, sorry Joe
), I won't make the same mistake I did with
Scott Pilgrim.
Joe, have you checked out
Legends of the Guardians by any chance? It's actually pretty good. Not at the same level as say, the exquisite
Rango by any means, but better than your average "family" movie they seem to trudge out every few weeks or so. And Snyder's fingerprints are all over it, if you appreciate his style.
On a side note since I brought it up,
Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World would put butts in seats at the Marathon this year, in my humble opinion. Attendance may be a concern, considering what's going on with the date still being up in the air. Just a thought.
