Since the marathon is coming together so quickly, does anyone know if there will be t-shirts this year?

It's a good bet there will be. I don't know for sure, but I can't remember a marathon which DIDN'T have t-shirts.....

Let's ask our master of marathon trivia... Joe?

To my knowledge, there are three official canonical Marathons with no t-shirt (I'll leave out Tim's all night Pickerington fests while we continue to negotiate his Marathon Legends contract).

The first was the star crossed and ill fated 2nd SCHLOCK AROUND THE CLOCK all-nighter from the Drexel North in 1994. Note, though, that the 17-year old version of me crafted his own homemade shirt with markers and a Hanes white T, a (ahem) priceless and faded artifact that I still have today. Laugh if you will, but it won me an official Odorama card for POLYESTER.

There was also no t-shirt for the 1st SHOCKTOBERFEST at the Drexel Grandview (1997) and the similarly star crossed and ill fated PSYCHORAMA FILM FESTIVAL all-nighter at Studio 35 (2000).

But unless senility is creeping up on me, I can pretty confidently say that every Columbus 24 Hour Marathon has had a souvenir t-shirt attached to it. Which begs the question: what's your favorite Marathon t-shirt of all time?

For the longest time, my favorite shirt was the glow in the dark giant squid consuming the Drexel North from 1993, but you can't really make an argument for anything other than "Yes We Kahn!"

Can you?

Kahn is a hardcore favorite of mine, no question. But I'm also deeply fond of the 21st Annual with both Godzilla and the Creature From the Black Lagoon featured prominently.

My dog got my Kahn shirt earlier this year. Not sure if something got spilled on it, or if I just stunk it up extra good, but I was too sad to be angry about it. My wife tried to convince me it could be saved, I think she was afraid I would get rid of the dog, but it sadly was beyond salvage.

I seem to be hooked on these damn things. Whenever I go to either the sci-fi or the horror, I just have to have one. Whatever happened to the marathon buttons that used to be sold?

Yes, and the Button girl in her tights, heels, and tuxedo jacket with tails? I've always thought that look was kinda sexy.....

You are correct there were no T-Shirts made for either of my Pickerington Marathons "(Welcome to my) Nightmareathon" and "The Thing that eat Pickerington". However there were some highly collectible Buttons made for the "Nightmareathon" event and I still have one myself. These go for about $10,000.00 on ebay (give or take).

The buttons (and the button girl in her tuxedo/fishnets combination) were a part of Paraphanelia From Beyond Dimension X, IIRC. They used to be a mainstay of the convention circuit, selling buttons, patches, ID tags and resin kits.

I haven't seen them in ages - not just at the marathon, but at any conventions either. Sadly.

And for the record, her name was (and probably still is), Amy. :)

You're talking about Jim and Amy Schultz. They live in Columbus and always go to Marcon Or used to. I haven't been to Marcon lately.
