I have no idea the motivation behind it, but this has been revealed as a hoax. The actual date in the film is October 27, 2015.

Seems kinda weird and random that someone would pick this month to spread this false information.

My memory of the film is hazy, but I do remember one of the important plot points to motivate Marty to go back in time and bet on sports was his surprise at finding out the Cubs had just won the World Series, which is played in October. So, yeah. I called shenanigans rather quickly.

Similarly, the action of the film clearly needs to take place while school is in session. I can't imagine that there are many schools in session in June.

And they make a specific point about it being 30 years in either direction. He goes from 1985 to 1955 in the first film, and then from 1985 to 2015 in the second.
