You pikers!

Boston has already announced the first title for the Marathon in February 2013!

I don't know if I would concider "THE FIFTH ELEMENT" as an announcment or not  it's a good movie but nothing to get excited about.

Yeah, FIFTH ELEMENT isn't that great a "get" - but, Ohio doesn't even have a date certain, yet!!!

:P

What I was hoping for the director's cut of Battlefield Earth.

I think Katie Holmes got the rights to the Director's cut of BATTLEFIELD EARTH as part of her divorce settlement with Tom Cruise!

I'm quite please that the Ohio Science Fiction Marathon screened Battle Royale before Boston did.

I think it's funny how people always compare "Hunger Games" to "Battle Royale", other than kids under 18 killing each other there is nothing else similair to the two movies, yet I can name a dozen plot points that prove "Se7en" is a remake of "Abominable Dr. Phibes" and I get shot down everytime.

Battle Royale class kidnapped forced to fight = Hunger Games Lottery sytem to choose who fights
Battle Royale kids all the same age = Hunger Games ages 6 to 18 can be choosen
Battle Royale there can be only 1 winner = Hunger Games same rule
Spoiler: show
but can be changed obviously

Battle Royale held in secret = Hunger Games the masses are forced to watch
Battle Royale on an island = Hunger Games in a controlled invironment
Battle Royale kids start with a bag = Hunger Games kids start with nothing
Battle Royale no one can help you = Hunger Games sponsors can send you food, medicine and supplies

This list could go on and on.

Just some slight nitpicks...

Actually, it's only 13-18.

Depends on the set-up for that particular game, as we'll see in the next film.

Those nitpicks aside, I don't think that Battle Royale and The Hunger Games are all that similar. Nor do I think Se7en and Dr. Phibes are all that similar. Some similarities in theme and set-up exist between both pairs of films, but they're not all that strong.

A 35mm Archive Print of Saul Bass' PHASE IV has been announced. Hopefully, it is the brand new one with the alternate ending. More info to come.

Phase IV is a great film. Well at the Ohio marathon if that movie gets book its a possible that it would be on a DVD not on film.
