Ah. Well then. In the words of the great Gilda Radner, "Never mind."

from what I hear The Last Push went over well and didn't suffer from being in the same lineup as Electroma and The Captains. But, think about this, what if instead of those stinkers we had a genuine classic or a recent successful film? That just elevates something good like The Last Push even more, dontcha think?

I don't really have a solution, but I think history has shown when it comes to "premieres" and recent fare, less is more. And more special, I think.

Amen Brother!! The Last Push was the only true Premiere in my opinion

Speaking of premieres, can I request Room 237 for the horror marathon this year? And while we're at it, why not pair it with The Shining? I think it's due to be shown again at another marathon, it's been a while.

Is it possible to put a hold on documentries for awhile? After I watched the trailer I've gotten an Ancient Aliens vibe to it.

This is a tough one. I think I'd have to go with the view that there should be no more than 3 "premieres" however you define them and that NOT A SINGLE ONE should be a documentary-even if it's a great documentary. I've been going to these on and off for 24 years now and I've seen some amazing films I might not have seen if it weren't for premieres-even recently like Endhiran and Troll Hunter. When I show I crazy movie like Society or Tetsuo the Iron Man to a friend and they ask me "how did you find this?" The answer is often "at a marathon." When one of last year's Chicago horror marathon screened 13 features on 35mm film, which I'm a huge fan of as regular marathoids know, there was definitely something lacking without having any premieres (though I'd never seen the anthology Nightmares with Emilio Estevez so that was kind of like a premiere). Happily the other Chicago marathon played a premiere of Eddie the Sleepwalking Cannibal so I could get my fix. It's gotta be tough to find any premieres, especially a good one. I assume Bruce, Joe, Jeff, etc... do some research and try to find good premieres but they obviously aren't always available. If in the interest of getting something new to premiere they decide that 6 mediocre, unknown or bad premieres equals a some red meat for the crowd then I'd rather go vegetarian. Keeping it at 2 or 3 premieres still allows for 9 or 10 good or great older titles so the risk of a less-than-stellar lineup like 1994 horror is softened. Side note, the maligned 1994 horror marathon still played the extended Dawn of the Dead, It's Alive and The Fog so it wasn't that bad.

Be glad this didn't happen, Joe... had your sister taken you to the marathon in '88, I would probably have flirted with her, and then... would you really want me for your brother-in-law? :)

Hey, doesn't EVERY impressionable kid want Scott Cozzolino as their brother-in-law?
