Oh, a silent movie. This will be pure joy. :D

I thought you would be excited that Danger 5 is made by the guy behind Italian Spiderman!

FWIW Italian Spider-man would make an excellent set of shorts for playing between films for the Sci-Fi Marathon.

By the way the so called Silent Time of the Robots does have spoken dialog in the first three minutes of the movie. Doesn't the director understand what silent means?

I wondered the same thing when I heard that in the clip.

In regards to Hutch's comment we've had silent films before, sometimes with local bands provding a score. It is really no worse than a foriegn film with subtitles.

As for Metropolis, I think in my wish list I had the anime version listed. I still think the end of that had one of the best uses of a popular song incorporated into a film.

Spoiler: show
One of the episode of Danger 5 features Dinosuars. Nazi Dinosuars.

The Time of the Robots director did the spoken dialog on purpose or he is lazy. I mean come on didn't they learn from the Automatons debacle. Is this what's past for a premiere then I am worried about the future of the science fiction marathon.

I did watched episodes one-three of Danger 5. Now IMO that whats a premiere suppose to be.

Half the films are announce? As I look at the films page there are eight entries with one to be announce. Danger 5 is 150 minutes long for all six episodes. So I am looking at least three more.

Here are the so far runtimes on the movies

The Mole People 77min
The Monolith Monsters 77min
Danger 5 150min
Time of the Robots 75 min
Inception 148 min
2001 141min
The Fly 96min
Safety not Guaranteed 85min

850 minutes or 14 hours and 17 minutes plus or minus. Depends on the breaks, the shorts and trailers, and any technical issues that they might do two to three more movies depending on the runtimes. Now this year there shouldn't have issues with the movie having the correct projection lense or the film breaking.

8 movies have been announced. There's probably only 2 left to go. That's a tiny bit more than half.

So we've got a little over 14 hours so far.

Isn't the usual runtime for marathon movies somewhere in the 17-18 hour range?

It's possible three more will be announced, but it'll probably only be 2 more movies.

I concur that two more films could be annouced. Then we can play the guess the order of the movies.

For example the first episode of Danger 5 then 2001.

I was wondering though if we were getting more movies and fewer shorts and old trialers because that stuff has not been converted yet.

According to the official email that there will be trailers, shorts, ect as well.

In a way I will miss the old bbq trailers. Those terrible bbq trailes.

I was going to mention that. Instead of 17-18 hours of movie runtime, it could be more like 19 or even 20 hours.

That said, I'm pretty sure we'll still get a bunch of trailers. I wonder if we'll get more "current" trailers this year, since they should be easier to show. More Thor and Man Of Steel and Elysium.

19 or 20 hours is really pushing it. Remember there is the costume contest that goes on a least a good half hour. Don't forget Bruce's coherent to not so coherent ramblings.

True that with digital projection there will be less issues with the old film projector systems. But not all projection systems are flawless.

Don't forget marathons most of the time runs behind. It may or may not hold true when it comes to the new digital era. They have to clean up theater one before it goes back to its regular schedule.

Seventeen or Eighteen hours is more reasonable.
