The Ohio Sci-Fi and Horror Marathons

Soooooo I heard that Jeff has parted with the Drexel Theater as of last week sometime??? Anyone know if this is true? Could this mean we are going to be without a home for next year? I will be perfectly happy if this is true, and if we were ever thinking about moving theaters this may be the perfect time.

I assumed there would be dancing in the Marathon streets of Columbus.......

I wouldn't be dancing. While I disagree with some of the decisions made in regards to promoting and scheduling the marathon Jeff has been more help than harm.

Also, the Drexel has been a huge part of his life, I would hate for him to have left, especially if it wasn't compleetly of his choosing.

I was looking around but haven't seen any published reports to confirm this.

As stated above Jeff was instumental in the success of the Marathons especially in the early years. It will be sad to see him no longer be apart of the Marathon scene, however I do think he lost his passion for the marathon many years ago.

The manager of Drexel is the one who mad the comment on a recent visit. I too could not not find confirmation online but I think this is true.

This well and truly blows. He has been a stalwart supporter of the marathons and has worked his ass off. He and Bruce are the glue that holds it together. I hope this is not true, unless he really wanted to go for his own personal reasons. Maybe we need a new theatre that will respect them. What about one of the Regal or Marcus theatres? Think they would give them some well-deserved love?

I doubt it. Unless the trend of centralized managment has shifted from the way it was headed when my friend left the theater management business. I just don't see the chains letting a manager have the freedom to tie up a screen and devote the resources to a marathon.

I'm not sure if the bridge is gone, but I do think the Gateway might be our best shot after the Grandview. Assuming the Drexel no longer wants us.

My feelings are personal but I'm glad he is out.

Hopefully this will move the Marathon to the Grandview or to the Gateway.

According to the Biz article that the carcus currently called the SF Marathon still going to happen next year. So far at least.

Maybe with more time and fewer distractions he can better plan and publicize the marathon.
