1925 Willis O'Brien special effects. The precursor to every monster movie.

I had hoped that by changing the choices in the countdown people would be interested/offended/ pissed off/ or otherwise motivated to chime in/change the sort of sequence/hijack the thread/ or whatever. Wolf commented. Jaglavak contributed, but that's it as yet. Please jump in & contribute. I guarantee to piss you off with some choices.

VZ: Since the joke's been made and seconded already, I went ahead and fixed the URL so that people would know what you were REALLY suggesting for No.18. :)

Well...you finally managed to piss me off. I love that movie for how stupid it is, but it is stupid. 18th greatest sci-fi of all time? I don't think so.

Clearly most everyone disagrees with you ...

"Image was absolutely riveting!"
- Metacritic Floyd

"Image was everything I could hope for out of science fiction. Truly a masterpiece!"
- Burl V. Pope

"Sexy, smart, and Image."
- James Small

"It was much better than Cats. I would see it again and again."
- Amanda Hugginkiss

Besides, with a 74% Metacritic score and a 98% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, how can you possible argue the film's merits?

Sorry that I didn't credit your previous participation David. You are here, there, and everywhere.
Stinky,
It is indeed a stupid movie, but vastly entertaining. After Jetee , and before the dystopias that are going to get even higher ratings, I felt like crediting something for its sheer enjoyability.
Please throw some things in that you'd rank as better. I'll even send you what I will be listing later in the countdown if you like, so that you can step in with your preferences.

Cheers from the Mistake on the Lake
