Next up is an underrated gem from 1990, returning to the Marathon screen for the first time since 1991. The infamous Richard Stanley (DUST DEVIL, the aborted ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU, which he was fired from) directs Dylan McDermott and tough gal Stacey Travis in the dystopian man vs. robot, woman vs. robot, EVERYBODY VS. ROBOT romp HARDWARE! Enjoy this wild romp again (or for the first time) in 35mm!

Bring out the big guns for our next film, a stone cold Science Fiction classic that hasn't played (at least in advertised form) since 1996's SF10, and one that features all-time great performances by the lustrous Sean Young, and the sexy but deadly Joanna Cassidy...oh yeah, and there's Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, and a phenomenal supporting cast. For the first time, we proudly present Ridley Scott's BLADE RUNNER: THE FINAL CUT, his last word on this mega-influential genre work. And in a brand new 2K DCP Panavision version!

Next up, we have two new films that should delight this audience. First is the OHIO PREMIERE of TIME LAPSE! Three friends discover a machine that takes pictures 24 hours into the future...but then things start to go decidedly wrong. This one was an official selection at the 2014 FantAsia Fest in Montreal, and has been garnering a slew of festival accolades ever since. Be the first in the area to see it, with the greatest crowd in the world!

Our second new film is the MIDWEST PREMIERE of SHADOWS ON THE WALL, the story of an engineering student who builds a miraculous device that reaches far beyond our understanding of time and space. It's been called a mix of THE SOCIAL NETWORK and THE X-FILES, and it comes highly rated to us form many of our sources.

I seem to recall that the version of Blade Runner that we watched a few years ago (in place of Moon I think) was pretty pink or faded or something that made it feel far from visually perfect.

In 1998, we tried to show Julien Temple's EARTH GIRLS ARE EASY at the RIffe Center's SF12, but the distributor forgot to send us the last two reels. So we watched THEM! instead.
Well, 15 years later, we're rectifying that error by FINALLY bringing this wildly entertaining Sci-Fi satire to the Marathon screen! It's Jeff Goldblum, Geena Davis, Damon Wayans, Jim Carrey, Julie Brown, Michael McKean, Charles Rocket....phew, more great actors than you can swing a dead hukka at! And it's a rare 35mm Panavision screening to boot!

Yes, Film #10 features Ellen Ripley herself, Sigourney Weaver, the mother of all kickass women, in a brand new 2K Panavision DCP of ALIEN! Weaver, Tom Skerritt, Veronica Carlson, Harry Dean Stanton, Yaphet Kotto, Ian Holm....what a phenomenal cast. It's too bad they all have to die. Remember: in space, no one can hear you scream.

And really, how can you show ALIEN without continuing the evolution of Ripley into a militaristic badass extraordinaire, launched on a kill mission like no other? So we'll also toss in Lance Henriksen, Bill Paxton, Michael Biehn, Jenette Goldstein, etc. etc. etc. in a new 2K DCP of James Cameron's ALIENS!

Three films that I rate in the top ten SF of all time on the posting board countdown, (well two share a slot.) My favorite silly SF movie. The one recent SF movie I wanted to see, but haven't gotten around to. Three interesting newbies (I looked them up) and several others that look perfectly fine. More than not bad, Impressive!
And Barbarella to sleep through!!!

Agh! One mistake in my tease: 6 of the 11 films have never played a Columbus Marathon. Forgot about HARDWARE's 1991 bow.

Blasphemy! To the Matmos with you! :)

Seriously, though, I kinda wish Joe and Bruce HAD booked ATTACK OF THE 50FT WOMAN ... I have no sleep time in this lineup.

For the second straight year, we have a theme. Which might be a record for a Columbus Marathon. It's a bit BROADER than last year's FUTURE SHOCK theme, but it should still be good.

I see what you did there...
