I have a crazy suggestion!

Since that's the way you (or, rather, Bruce) programmed it back in 1996, why not do something different this time? Play them back-to-back?

In fact, as I think about it, almost every time there's been similar programming - 2 films where one is a remake or sequel - they have been used to bookend the marathon (ie. Invasion of the Body Snatchers in '93, The Thing in '91, The Fly in '97, and Terminator in '99. The one exception I was able to find in the archives was way back in '89, when both Blob films played with just one film between them (Killer Klowns).

Time to change things up, my friend! :)

I back the back to back idea. Is that a 3-back?

It might be fun to do back to back viewings of a film and its remake/sequel, but I tend to enjoy the bookending approach.

I think it partially depends on whether or not the sequel/remake is any good. I think most of us will agree that Alien/Aliens, The Fly, Terminator/T2 give you strong films to open and close a marathon with.

If we were to show the original and remake of Day the Earth Stood Still, or War of the Worlds, I think doing them back-to-back would provide more opportunities for the audience to savage the remake in ways it deserves.
