The older son has the SE Ohio / WV Swim Championships that weekend in Canton. He is having his best season ever and is going to compete in at least 6 individual events 3 on Saturday morning and 3 on Sunday morning. I think leaving a 12 year old in a hotel room by himself would likely be frowned on. Even though my parents did something similar but I was 16. And it was the 80s. PArents could do that and it would turn into a fun teen comedy film. Nowadays, not so much.
May see if I can find a sympathetic fellow swim parent. I've never missed a ScFi marathon. Even when we lived in DC. Even when we brought Sergei home from Russia two weeks or so before a marathon. Problem is, most non-marathoid adults look at you weird when you talk about marathons as it is.
"Oh, so you want us to take your son, because you want to sit in a theater for 24 hours (or longer) so you can watch old scifi movies? Don't you have like cable or Amazon Prime or Netflix?"
And I want to see him swim. If he swims the 6 individual events I think they will pick (he has more qualifying times, but there is a maximum number of events) he will swim competitively for under 5 minutes. I was hoping the remodeling would make this later, but did it move it up instead? Excuse me as I type the random thoughts popping in my head.
I see in Joe's note was supposed to be two weeks later. That would be worse, most likely. He has a good shot at making Zone times in a couple events and Zones would be that weekend. Interestingly also in Canton, though usually elsewhere. That is a multi-state event and the last level before Nationals.
