How is it possible I have been attending the Sci-Fi Marathon since the 3rd year and the event is now 30 years old but I am only 29?

Considering the multiple violations of the space-time continuum that we've committed over the years, this is all in keeping with the master plan.

What is this? No guesses as to the Sci-Fi Marathon lineup that'll be rolled out on Saturday at TERMINATOR VS. LADY TERMINATOR? Sheesh, the ghosts of message board days of yore would be ashamed! Ashamed, I tell ya!

Okay, okay....I'll give you a few vague hints to stoke the flames inside your dark Marathoid hearts:

-We heavily debated how to construct the 30th Anniversary of the Science Fiction Marathon. Almost all classics, as was the case with SF10? A set theme? In the end, we chose to follow the formula that seems to have worked the last few years: a nice mix of classics, underseen films, and newer fare. Although if you look closely, there's definitely a sub-theme worming its way through the lineup.

-Two of the films are cult classics that we've wanted to show for quite some time. One could be construed as borderline Sci-Fi (which, I'm sure, will delight our old pal Will Cail when we finds out  ), but it's a tremendous, powerful flick that doesn't get screened enough. And the other long-mooted film is one that we're quite frankly amazed hasn't played at a past Marathon, especially as it's directed by a longtime genre favorite.

-As with the last few years, we're bringing back some old favorites....although the long, storied reputation of one of them has often made its status as a favorite mildly questionable. Say this about it: it's built quite the cult following since its release. And it's very relevant to 2017. The other favorites more than earn their status, and almost all of them haven't played at a Columbus Marathon in quite some time (see the ALIEN/ALIENS double dip of 2015, which marked their first Marathon exposure in 20 years.)

I could say more, but that's enough for now. In the meantime, shell out a sawbuck and join us for all the fun on Saturday night, ya hear?

I am gonna guess Buckaroo Banzai will be one of the Past Favorites.

Ha ha! I actually like GHOSTS OF MARS, but I wouldn't say that we're amazed that it's never played.

1984.

Maybe Scanners for the classic that's never played before.

If a sub-theme is "worming" it's way into the lineup, perhaps that is a hint towards Tremors and Dune.

I am crossing my fingers that the "questionable" favorite is something fun like The Apple.

"Relevant to 2017" certainly hints at 1984 as the above have already suggested, but I personally hope not because I frankly find it boring as hell. No offense to those who appreciate it.

It's also been less than ten years since last we saw 1984 at the Marathon. That might be more recent of a re-dip than Bruce and Joe want to do.

That said, I'll re-watch that movie anytime.

Alas, timely as it may be, there's no 1984 in the lineup this year. Although we should bring it back one of these days. I had the distinct....um....pleasure of attending two Marathons in 2008 when this admittedly powerful film played in the middle of the night. It would be nice to see it at a more reasonable hour one day.
