The 43rd Marathon starts at 8PM and usually goes for about 30 hours.

Red Dawn is downright stupid and obnoxious.
Hopefully they'll do better with the rest.

8:00pm Galaxy Quest (1999, PG, 35mm)
10:300pm World Without End (1956, Approved, Blu-ray?)

BLADE RUNNER 2049 at the end after 27 hours!?? Now, that would take stamina! Good movie, but, it's almost 3 hours long!!

Except for Idiocracy, so far the announced are pretty humdrum.

I heartily agree with LA's comment about stamina, with a slight caveat as to the quality of the film.
Great for the sheer volume of acting, atmosphere, side plots, stuff they threw into the film.
But the mishmash either never decides what it is about or destroys any integral unity.

I love Red Dawn (1984 version), but it is odd that it is in a Sci Fi marathon lineup.

There are a few more titles coming (unless that's the 7 hour ULTRA-SUPER-MEGA Director's Cut of BIG HERO 6 ;) ), but as of now we've got a contingent planning on making the drive.

Pretty solid line-up. Looking forward to it.

Red Dawn is stupid 80's fun but has NO, ZERO, ZIP, ZILCH reason for being at a sci-fi event.

Latest list, as of 1/9/18.
Friday, January 19
8:00pm Galaxy Quest (1999, PG, 35mm)
10:300pm World Without End (1956, Approved, Blu-ray?)
Saturday, January 20
12:30am Deep Blue Sea (1999, R, Blu-ray)
2:00am Surprise 1 (????, Approved, Blu-ray)
4:00am Repo Man (1984, R, DCP)
6:00am Red Dawn (1984, PG-13, DVD)
8:00am Big Hero 6 (2015, PG, 35mm)
10:00am Frau im Mond [Woman in the Moon] (1929, NR, Blu-ray)
12:00pm #9 - TBA
2:00pm #10 - TBA
3:30pm Idiocracy (2006, R, 35mm)
5:15pm Surprise 2 (????, PG, 35mm)
7:30pm #13 - TBA
9:00pm Blade Runner 2049 (2017, R, DCP)
11:59pm #15 - TBA

Note that the FRAU IM MONDE, Fritz Lang epic, is probably the 95 minute US edited version rather than the longest version, 200 minutes.
I wish that I could say that I had seen the long version, but I missed my chance twice. Once with live accompaniment at the Cleveland Cinematheque, and once on a streaming channel at home. At home I fell asleep somewhere around one hour into it.

The schedule specifically cites the 'Blu-Ray' - and, the only legal one available runs 3 Hours and 9 minutes! That's the one we booked in Boston a couple of years ago, but, dropped when we found out the length. I hope someone behind the Cleveland fest looks it up. It ain't fitting in a 2 hour timeslot unless they start hitting the fast forward button or skipping chapters!!

P.S. On RED DAWN. I guess, they are booking it under the notion that it's an 'alternate history' sci-fi concept

They must has listened! Note, that Woman In the Moon is now in a 3 hour 5 minute slot. It's still a little short of the Blu Ray run-time, not to mention breaks, set-up time etc. It'll actually be closer to 3 hours and 15 - IF all goes smoothly. Ha!

The mix seemed to work very well.
A friend says that I always gripe about lineups. At least I am consistent.
Red Dawn was cr@p. And I am not into sharks eating munchies.
Deep Blue Sea did have the best surprise in a terror movie that I have ever seen. If you haven't seen it, pay a lot of attention to Samuel Jackson.

Unfortunately I had a somewhat difficult time physically. Not CWRU's fault.
Probably could have done better with slightly better planning.

The one real weirdy was throwing in a BAD 1956 Mickey Spillane movie, Kiss Me Deadly as a surprise.
I am heartily in favor of mixing in oddballs, specifically showing movies that violate expectations and norms.
But this one was not science fiction, unless you include that the MacGuffin they are chasing is, unknown to everyone, a radioactive box.
So an entire Spillane piece of sadism for an irrelevant reveal at the end? Not a stretch. A mistake.

But again, contrary to my cynical expectations, the mix worked very well.
