Great news! I love the comfort of the Grand and Gateway theaters but I've always loved the intimacy of the genuine Drexel chains. It's nice to be more in a bubble. There's something weird about walking outside between movies and seeing 2000 Buckeye shirts... 1984 is a great choice. Lady Terminator should be a lot of fun-great trailer. Here's hoping for Robocop, A Boy and His Dog, and They Live...

ATTENTION MARATHOIDS!!!

The countdown to the 25th Annual Ohio 24 Hour Science Fiction Marathon is underway.
This year's Marathon will be launched at noon Saturday, April 19 at the Drexel Theatre,
2254 East Main Street in Bexley, and come back to earth at noon Sunday, April 20, 2008.

A few films have already been scheduled. To honor our Journey to the Seventh Theatre
is the Danish/American International outer space adventure JOURNEY TO THE SEVENTH PLANET.
John Hurt and Richard Burton star in the 1984 version of George Orwell's NINETEEN EIGHTY-FOUR.
Mindless sex and violence for the middle of the night are offered by the Indonesian R-rated rip-off
LADY TERMINATOR. More titles will be announced later this week. As always, you can
expect a few premieres, a few classics, and who knows what else.

Advance tickets will be $35 and go on sale Thursday, March 13 at the Drexel,
Drexel Grandview, 1247 Grandview Avenue, and the Laughing Ogre, 4258 North High Street.
Tickets at the door will be $40. Info on charge by phone or online will be available in a few days.

Watch for the announcement of a special guest within a few days!

Klaatu Barada Ohio!

AWESOME BRUCE AND JEFF!!! Should be interesting having the SCI-FI marathon at the Bexley theater. Lady Terminator and Journey to the Seventh Theatre um I mean Planet, will be be great B Movie fodder and 1984 will satisfy the serious Marathoneers in the crowd.

Interesting.

Will the Radio Cafe be open for the whole 24 hours?

Just wondering.

I'm guessing that things fell through with the Gateway in light of the ownership change?

Well, we don't get a vote. I don't care if I have to walk ten miles uphill through snow to get to the theater.

Hello, my name is Gift Horse, plesed to meet you :o

THANK YOU Bruce and Jeff, for making a huge effort to keep our gathering afloat through numerous theater ownwership changes and other unforseen circumstances.

Whooopppeeeee!

I will be able to attend after all!!!

Not knowing what the final dates were going to be, I tried to keep as much of April free as possible, but I ended up with another commitment the weekend of April 12 - I was very afraid that would end up being the weekend of the 'thon. I am SO glad it is not - I almost wet myself when I got the news!

See you all there!
