We not only lost a great director today in Anthony Minghella, but a great writer as well in Arthur C Clarke. Kubrik probably went on to become more celebrated, but 2001 was just as much Clarke's vision.
They will be missed...
Well, if we screened 2010, we now would have a tribute to two talented recently deceased people. I know Bruce was probably going to wait a couple years for that one though, since he missed the opportunity to show 2001 in 2001.
