Barring cosmic calamity or interstellar snafu, this
should be the complete lineup of features for this year's
26th Annual Ohio 24 Hour Science Fiction Marathon.
This is NOT the schedule in which the films will be shown.
That will be posted here sometime next week. You'll find
links to information and trailers for each film in the Cantina.

TIMECRIMES - Columbus Premiere
ALIEN TRESPASS - Columbus Premiere
MUTANT CHRONICLES - Columbus Premiere
TOKYO GORE POLICE - Columbus Premiere
FAMOUS MONSTER: FORREST J. ACKERMAN - Midwest Premiere
CAT WOMEN OF THE MOON in 3-D (1953)
LOGAN'S RUN (1976)
ROBOCOP (1987)
ROLLERBALL (1975)
STAR TREK: THE WRATH OF KHAN (1982)
THE THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD (1951)
THE TIME TRAVELERS (1964)

With cartoons, short subjects, trailers new and vintage, the
Annual Costume Contest (Khantest?) with $100 1st prize, plus
plenty of other swag and surprises. Surrender to the 'thon
and be part of the best crowd of marathoids in the midwest.

KLAATU BARADA OHIO!!!

Looks like we have approximately 20 hours just in films. If we keep the nonsense between films to a minimum...we should be able to see everything without going gossly over 24 hours (we know that couldn't possibly happen!)

So barring any reel changes, broken reels, lenghty costume or scream contests, over-long intermissions , lenghty speeches, too many trailers, or cosmic interferences...it looks like a good line-up and a good time for all !!

The Drexel runs on a platter system to avoid reel changes so this won't be an issue. Now of coarse film can always break causing a minor delay but the worst possible scenerio is a "brain wrap", a Brain Wrap for those of you who never spent any time lurking in the dark labyrinthine corridors running above the concession stands and Tivoli lined auditoriums, is slang used by projectionists to describe a situation in which the film exiting the vertical feed platter via the payout unit (the brain) tangles up into a hopeless mass of celluloid. It's near impossible to repair quickly and sometimes even results in the cancellation of the show. In short, it's all screwed up!

Kind of mainstream and dull except for the premieres. Almost half the selection can be gotten from the $5 bin at Walmart. Where's the rarities and stuff showing that ISN'T on DVD?

I rather sit through all the older Sci Fi films than Mutant Cronicles. Fancy CGI doesn't make a Sci Fi film automaticlly good. See Mutant Chronicles.

Seems like there wasn't much trying this time. Seems a little wishy-washy. Has the passion left our beloved marathon?

"Mommy, can I have a G.I. Joe action figure?"

"Aw... I'm sorry sweetie, but Mommy and Daddy can't afford to buy you new toys right now. You have lots of toys in your closet to play with."

"But Mommy! I want it!"

"I know, I'm sorry sweetie. Here, look. We have something special for dessert tonight. I baked you this fresh apple pie!"

"What? No chocolate cake?!"

Your childish, hypocritical argument against this film that neither you nor anyone else attending the marathon has seen was already intelligently debated in another thread, so I don't need to elaborate on it here.

Let me just point out that it is posts like these that are the reason you don't hear from me very often anymore. I think it is safe to say that others who have posted more frequently in the past feel the same way.

Or maybe I'm just being a snob.

Either way, I wish I could have attended this year. Thanks to Bruce and Jeff and all those involved for making this happen year after year despite how difficult it must be.

Have fun everyone.

I know from past experience you can't make everyone happy at these events, heck I showed Rosemary's Baby to 500 teenagers in Pickerington in the late 90's and I was lucky to make it out alive.

Basically I feel that the marathons are events and it is the event that I am attending the movies are secondary. I have been asking for JASON X for the last 10 years and I know someday it will happen but until than I will keep going to the event and enjoy it for what it is.

IamJackuserID,

The old saying, the pot calling the kettle black applies to you.

Chastising Infa Kid about not liking the classics and myself not caring about one movie.

You can't have it both ways.

Lighting up, this is a message board. People have diferent tastes of movies.

I am not questioning anyone's taste in movies. You are obviously not understanding my argument, just as you did not understand WolfNC17 in the other thread. You rarely put together a gramatically correct sentence, so I wouldn't expect you to understand one.

I will make it as simple as possible for you:

"This messageboard used to be fun to read and now it is not."

It might be a little premiere heavy, but take out one or two priemeres and throw in something that hit the bigg screen in the last three or four years and the lineup doesn't look much different than most years. And to be honest I'd rather see a priemere I likely would never get around to seeing than something like Hancock, Jumper, Speed Racer, Ironman, City of Ember, etc.

One of the joys of the marathon for me is the wide variety of films that are shown. I look forward to premieres, rare classics, popular hits, 80’s cheese flicks, etc. I don’t particularly care how many of which type play each year, just that the variety is there is enough for me. This year has the variety and I find myself looking forward to this year more the last couple. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the last couple of years very much, but for some reason I’m really looking forward to this year.
