When the 'thon is just around the corner, I prime myself for it by listening to Rhino's box set "Brain In A Box"- The Science Fiction Collection. It's a great set of 5 CDs ...Movie Themes, TV Themes, Pop, Lounge/Incidental and Novelty. I LOVE this box set. Just curious if anyone else does.

No, but it sounds like something I need to put on my Christmas list.

I picked mine up at Amoeba while in Los Angeles for a pretty good price.

Mecha- I thought I remembered talking with you about "Brain in a Box" before. I have a 1 GB mp3 player that has nothing but that box set on it. I never get tired of it. ...and you snagged it for 10 bucks? That has to be the deal of the century! It's out of print now.

Also great is "The Science Fiction Album" by Silva Screen records. 4 discs of Sci-Fi movie themes, and it sounds great!

What I'd LOVE to have is a long recording of a low metallic, hollow humming sound, like what you would imagine it would sound like to be inside a huge spaceship. It would be great to relax/ sleep to that. I might have to go to an engine room or factory sometime and try to capture something similar on my own.

Well it started out at $30 but no one bought it so they marked it down to $20 and then $10, I peeled off the stickers to reveal what it started at after I bought it.

Great stuff. 8)

I also recomend the Sci-Fi Channel soundtracks that were put out back in the late 90s.

Hey, Mecha- Thanks for the recommendation of the Sci Fi Channel series of CDs...Just found all 4 used on Amazon and placed an order! Looking forward to listening to those.

Hope to run into you and the other cantina regulars over the weekend. If you see a guy that looks like my avatar wearing a silver blade-like pendant around his neck (I always wear it to the 'thon) be sure to say hi.

We're almost ready for blast-off!
