So Warner Bros decide to do another Godzilla In Name Only movie. Epic Fail. If the movie isn't done by 100% Toho then it is pointless to watch. I'll wait when a real Gorja movie is made.

How about we wait until we actually learn something about the film before dismissing it out of hand. And it was Tristar that did GINO, not WB. Everyone knew that GINO was going to suck back in 98 because Devlin and Emmerich came right out and said that they hated Godzilla movies and that they were going to make the first and only good one, which turned out to be crap of course.

This time around I am far more optimistic.

Considering that I honestly don't have allot of good things to say about Toho's Heisei or Millenium era films, I for one am looking forward to this.

When I mean they I mean in general. When Hollywood adapt any Japan movie and or TV franchise it end up sucking. See Astro Boy the movie and the bastard version Macross AKA Robotech episodes 1 to 36. I take the any pure Godzilla movie over some Hollywood adaption.

I seriously laughed my ass off. I just loved it.

Got the director's autograph a little while later too. XD

I was in Middle School, or maybe just starting High school in the mid 80s when those came out. I loved them. I did not have the originals to compare them to. What did I have to compare them to? Voltron, G.I Joe, Thundercats, Transformers. This blew them away. A long, mostly coherent story arc. People died. Not just a random person, but siginificant characters. Realtionships while still fictional, seemed more realistic. People fell in and out of love. Actions had consequences that were not always positive.

While by no means perfect, I credit Robotech with introducing me to a long and mostly happy relationship with anime.

That has officially fell through. Yoshimitsu Banno, the man who directed Godzilla vs. The Smog Monster was supposed to be making it, but he never got the financing he needed to pull it off.

He is however a part of the production crew for this new upcoming American film.

That's unfortunate. I heard the story. It sounded interesting. It was about Godzilla going around the world dealing with environmental destruction on several continents. The article I read several years ago said Banno wanted to do something like that when he made Hedorah, but they didn't have the money and technology back then.
