Apparently po'd because they can't trademark the term, "Sci-fi", the Sci-Fi Channel (i.e. the most disappointing cable network EVER) is now going to be called "SYFY".

FOR years, television viewers, journalists who write about TV and services that compile listings have wondered how to refer to a certain cable network: Sci Fi Channel? Sci-Fi Channel? SciFi Channel? SCI FI Channel?

Plans call for Sci Fi and its companion Web site (scifi.com) to morph into the oddly spelled Syfy — pronounced the same as “Sci Fi” — on July 7. The new name will be accompanied by the slogan “Imagine Greater,” which replaces a logo featuring a stylized version of Saturn.

The SCI-FI CHANNEL aka SYFY aka "The Most Disappointing Network in Cable History" is dead according to this Obituary:

As I've written before, no channel has been more disappointing to me over the years than SCI-FI. It's gotten to the point that I almost never watch it. First they rebranded it "SYFY", now they've really given up the ghost and are adding a COOKING SHOW and WRESTLING to the lineup. All pretense that this is about Science Fiction are now gone.

It's not R.I.P. it's .............
