I'm really surprised you didn't like Society, Let the Right One In, Big Man Japan (it really drags in the last half, but I had a blast at the marathon), Uzumaki, and Dagon (horrible lead actor aside). Not classics but crazy and fun films I thought you'd enjoy. I love 3 Extremes and know it's not for everyone, but Dumplings is one of the most twisted shorts I've ever seen. In fact I like a lot of the ones you don't, for various reasons but of all the ones I listed above, I thought Society would be right up your alley.

And then there's Automatons...

Have any of these premieres played again at later marathons? Which ones would you most like to see make a return appearance?

You bring up a great point, of all the movies that have played multiple time I don't think any premiere has ever played more than 1 time.

*cough*Brainddead/Dead Alive*cough*

There's been talk of bringing back Dog Soldiers, too, though that's probably still a bit recent.

My usage of the term "direct to video" was meant to refer to the seeming ocean of cruddy DTV sequels, retreads, etc. that dominate the field today.

And Tim, you're right about those few films being the only ones with a wide release. But "wide" is the key word here. Quite a few of the premieres which have shown over the years have, in fact, garnered theatrical releases, although many of them have been limited to large cities or short stops in smaller cities. But a release is still a release.

But who wouldn't want to see "Sharktopus" on the big screen

Only if it doesn't bump Mega Shark Versus Giant Octopus. ;)
