I know that lists like these are compiled across the internet all the time but since this was the latest one that I stumbled across I figured I'd post it and see what the marathoids think.

Feel free to discuss, rant, rave, etc.

Well, you could debate the specific order until the cows came home, but there's hardly any stinkers in that group. More than half have played at the 'thon, including 25 of the top 34 by my count. I guess we have good taste.

Not sure I would quite say "hardly any" stinkers, and there are some very odd choices for a "top-100 EVER" list.

Plus, there are some glaring omissions. The George Pal classics "War of the Worlds" and "When Worlds Collide" (as mentioned in the comments) are a travesty to forget. Especially to have included such titles as "Event Horizon" and "Tetsuo: Iron Man."

But any such list is going to inspire debate as nauseum. :)

I don't think E.T. should be considered SCI-FI!
I mean come on how can any movie that made my mom cry be Sci-Fi? There was a little E.T. like alien in MEATBALLS 2 does that make it sci-fi?

I'll see your top 100 list a raise you the Top 20 horror films in the last 20 years.

http://www.ew.com/ew/gallery/0,,20284496_20284497_20295591,00.html

As for the original list, the Top 12 was pretty solid, except for Solaris and Total Recall. Solaris should be in the Top 100, but not at 10. Total Recall might deserve to be in the Top 100, but not ahead of T2 or Predator.

I agree War of The Worlds should be on the list. But if you want to add something you need to take something off, so I take off Stalker.

20-100 are solid films, but the ordering, to me, is off. I might also drop Jedi off the list for something or at least move ti out of the Top 50. In fact I would be willing to flip it with Godzilla.
