I don't know how many of you fellow native Western Ohioans remember the glory that was
Dayton Mall Cinema 1. It was 30 years ago today that I was forever embedded into geekdom when, as a 9 year-old, I experienced my first cinematic nirvana there. I imagine many of you in my age range had similar experiences, which is why
The Empire Strikes Back is so highly revered by a bunch of us crazy 40 or soon to be 40 year-olds.
My parents actually took us to see the midnight premiere of this thing(which, if you don't know, was practically unheard of at the time). In retrospect, knowing my parents better now, I am shocked that this even happened. They aren't the type that do stuff like this, yet there we were.
Thanks, Mom and Dad.
