If it was up to YOU in what order would you show the films at the 2011 Horror Marathon? For now pretend these are the only films in the line up.....

This would be my choice:

THE CABINET OF DR. CALIGARI - Obvious choice to open with

THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN - Keep the Black and white going

THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL - Something New for the kiddies

THE PIT AND THE PENDULUM - Back to the Classics with a special introduction and moment of silence for the master if horror!!

THE HITCHER - Time for some blood and guts!!

FLESH FOR FRANKENSTEIN Keep the blood flowing....in 3-D??

GOKE: BODYSNATCHER FROM HELL - This will wake up the sleeping marathoners

SLITHER - a few laughs to keep us awake

THE BEYOND - Slow paced but flesh eating tarantulas will keep the nightmare alive

HELLRAISER - Pinhead and his fellow cenobites will slaughter us all before we can leave....THE END?

This is a game I find myself playing year after year, and it is quite fun actually. I always seem to lose, though, because I'm never right and invariably the order as it turns out always makes sense. I also have not seen most of the films in the lineup this year, which excites me but at the same time makes it harder to play the "order of the lineup" game.

Now, I realize there are logistics involved such as print formats and/or lens changes that would make certain things more difficult for the projectionist. But assuming I was able to ignore all that and just go on instinct, this is what I would do.

The Pit and the Pendulum - Caligari is a solid opener choice, but I think you want to showcase that one in "prime time" instead. There is also the "live music" factor to consider, which probably pre-determines where this would be. But again, I have to ignore all that for the purpose of this game since I'm not actually involved with it.

Bride of Frankenstein -B&W classics just don't feel right anywhere but mid-afternoon.

GOKE: Bodysnatcher From Hell -this is one of your showcase unique cinematic experiences and needs to play early (unless there's lots of sex and violence, I don't know). I would put it second, but it's a good idea to seperate your Black & White films.

The Cabinet of Dr Caligari -prime time showcase feature.

House of the Devil - you need a more recent film to round out the front half of the lineup. I haven't seen this one, but judging from the trailer and other people who have seen it, this doesn't feel like a second half film.

It's worth mentioning that here at the halfway point is a good place to sneak in a premeire, but let's still assume the announced films are the only ones playing.

The Hitcher is my midnight film, but I'm torn between flipping it with Slither as the "ender." You certainly don't want it to get pushed back to the middle of the night if more films are added, considering it's rarity.

Flesh For Frankenstein - the perfect "crazy 3AM movie," unless it's in 3D which throws another curveball into things. I'm assuming at this point it is not.

The Beyond is your middle of the night movie because, quite frankly, there's nowhere else to put it.

Hellraiser -you could end on this one as well, but it feels more like a "next to last" movie to me.

Slither -a solid note to go out on, plus if we get behind it can always be dropped...
