Whaddya mean you're out of coffee?!?!?

Get ready for unmitigated terror, because we've finally confirmed the two premieres for this year's Horror Marathon!

First up is the MIDWEST PREMIERE of acclaimed indie chiller Midnight Son, which has been making its way through the festival circuit throughout this year. The story of a young man cursed by disease to avoid the sunlight and drink human blood, Midnight Son has been compared to George Romero's Martin and was acclaimed by Bloody Disgusting's Brad Miska as "an impeccable, daring and undoubtedly remarkable debut." Check out the trailer and more here

But that's not all, because yes, the rumors are true: we're proud to present the Ohio Theatrical Premiere of A Serbian Film, the most controversial, gut-churning, uncompromising, no holds barred film of the decade! And we're proud to present it UNCUT and UNRATED! Srđan Spasojević's gross out epic is the tender story of an former adult film star who is lured back into the game for one last shoot (SPOILER: things don't go well.) Grab your barf bags and gird your loins, 'cause this one is a rough ride indeed, a taboo shattering nightmare that also serves as a pointed political commentary on the war torn soul of Serbia.

Just watched the trailer for Midnight Son. Looks really good! I love simple little movies that aren't so in-your-face about trying to scare you or shock you. I hope it plays before 9 or 10pm.

As for A Serbian Film, well, I suppose I hope that plays well after midnight. It sounds like I'll need a good 12-15 hours of scares, shocks, blood, and gore to desensitize me and get me ready for that thing.

Hmmm, A Serbian Film sounds challenging. We should discuss that in a separate thread. Has anyone thought about that?

I'm almost as excited for the audience response to A Serbian Film as I am for the watching the movie itself.

THANK YOU so much Joe. I cannot wait to watch this movie in a thearter and more importantly to hear people's reactions. A Serbian Film has been one of the most talked about movies of the decade and I'm glad you guys pulled it out.

As for Midnight Son I have heard bits and pieces about it and it does sound very entertaining.

Great last minute adds!

I'm removing this post so as not to start more arguments. Hope everyone enjoys the Marathon. 8)

I would like to take this time to recommend a podcast to everyone, if you are into that sort of thing. It is called The Film Vault and features weekly "top 5s" on various, widely different topics. They aren't necessarily listing the absolute best of everything, but it's more of a way to bring attention to older films that need a little more love. Their conversation is always very interesting, so check it out.

Anyways, here's the marathon connection. One of the hosts is really into hardcore, challenging cinema. I'm not sure if any of these older episodes are archived or not because they recently switched network providers, but a few months ago, their subject was the Top 5 "most disturbing" films. One of their lists contained Irreversible, Martyrs, and of course A Serbian Film.

So, thanks Joe for your constant efforts to disturb all of us!

By the way, the other two on the list, in case you are interested, were Salo and Antichrist. (CHAOS... REIGNS!).

So next year, I guess? Bring it on!

Yes on Midnight Son. Base on the trailer it looks good.

As my feelings for A Serbian Film is well known how about scheduling the "film" around 11pm so people can go somewhere else.

And by the way, I know that this has been beaten to death already on the forum, but here's the disclaimer one last time: Serbian Film is ONE FILM in the lineup. One out of twelve. A ticket gives you the full right to come and go as you please, as it always has throughout the event's history.

So if you're dying to see some of the other films and have no desire to see Serbian, that's absolutely cool with us. I've used this right to skip out on most of the Larry Blamire oeuvre that's played at various Marathons in various cities.
