With the Majority of the 2012 Line Up Available it is time to start arguing, I mean discussing what order we would like the movies shown in (or try to guess the order Bruce and Joe will Use)

THE ABOMINABLE DR. PHIBES (Opened at the 7th Annual Night of the Living Drexel)
WHITE ZOMBIE (the Classic b/w movie also Kid Friendly)
SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES (Kid Friendly and Disney)
PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE (Wake the audience up with Loud Music)
KILL LIST (Premier Time)
POSSESSION (Now the more violent horror starts)
VIDEODROME (Caption Edited due to old age)
DEAD ALIVE (Played at 11:30pm at the 5th Annual Night of the Living Drexel )
WEREWOLVES ON WHEELS (To much violent horror need some cheese and T&A)
THE DEVILS (Played at 2am at the 5th Annual Night of the Living Drexel )
AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON (Long Awaited violent horror with a side of Cheese)

It's a bit early for this, but what the heck. It is one of my favorite things to do.
The problem we run into with a lineup this good is that something inevitably will end up in a less than ideal time slot, much like GOKE last year.
I think the only thing that is a given is that PHIBES, PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE, WHITE ZOMBIE and KILL LIST all need to play before midnight. SOMETHING WICKED is Disney and PG, but I don't think you necessarily need to jam all of the "kid friendly" titles into the first half. I would actually place that into an early morning slot, kind of as a "palette cleanser" so to speak. I also think you need to break up THE DEVILS, KILL LIST and POSSESSION. Those three back to back to back like your list would be pretty intense.

I agree PHIBES is the perfect opening film, but you have a few choices as a closer. AMERICAN WEREWOLF is an obvious choice, but it does end
Spoiler: show
rather abruptly and on a down note
, so maybe VIDEODROME or DEAD ALIVE would be a better choice. You also don't want to relegate WEREWOLVES ON WHEELS to the 6 or 8am slot because you will need an at least semi enthusiastic crowd to get some enjoyment out of it.

Point being, I don't envy the challenge Joe has. I'm sure he also has to consider other logistics such as lens changes, timing of the video projection, etc.

Anyway, to play the game, here is how it shakes out for me, not that I have given it much thought or anything ;) :

THE ABOMINABLE DOCTOR PHIBES
WHITE ZOMBIE
KILL LIST
POSSESSION
Unannounced Premiere
PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE
THE DEVILS
WEREWOLVES ON WHEELS
DEAD ALIVE
AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON
SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES
VIDEODROME

Oops! Looks like you edited your order right before I replied, sorry.

Anyway, I think the lineup can go a number of different ways this year, but here are a couple thoughts on your updated list:

Next to last is a terrible, terrible slot for THE DEVILS, it will fit lots of places, but not there.
And, that previous showing of VIDEODROME you referenced is not actually canonical. It's never actually screened at any "official" Columbus Marathon, horror or otherwise.

P.S. AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON would also make a terrific opener, but I think it would push back too much if you go that route. I'm not thrilled putting it in the middle of the night either personally, but I think it will do just fine there, like THE HITCHER last year.

I know for a fact it showed at a Marathon, I am sure it was at the Riffe Center. Joe help us out with this .

I'll squarely point my finger at a certain Mr. Zecchini for legitimizing my youthful pursuits on the interwebs, 'cause the only format that VIDEODROME screening took place on was VHS. The 9th Annual Horror Marathon that's listed in the Hall of Marathonia was a video Marathon that I put on for friends in a friend's basement. Aside from that, VIDEODROME has (amazingly) never played at a real Columbus Marathon, although it was briefly advertised as playing at the 1999 Sci-Fi Marathon (at the Continent.)

Ooooohhh, I love the guess the lineup game. I’ll probably change my mind multiple times between now and the official line up confirmation, but here it goes:

AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON (open big with one of the big gets. My only hesitation is would it be TOO intense for younger viewers? I can’t decide. Could be a few spots lower)
SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES
THE ABOMINABLE DOCTOR PHIBES (Joe and Bruce have allowed some build-up to Vincent in recent years rather than throwing him right at us)
PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE (debated swapping this and White Zombie)
POSSESSION (sorta feels like the marquee attraction to me, but could also see it in the early morning hours)
KILL LIST (assuming there is a pre-midnight screening requirement)
WHITE ZOMBIE (palate cleanser)
VIDEODROME (recent history - The Brood, Rabid, They Came from Within - has always put Cronenberg at those difficult to stay awake hours)
THE DEVILS (could need to be a spot or two earlier due to sexual content, but putting it between Possession, Kill List and Videodrome would make a pretty intense, serious 7-8 hour block)
WEREWOLVES ON WHEELS
DEAD ALIVE (just screams closer to me)

Ok maybe thats what I was thinking of, or maybe I was confusing it with Altered States. After 25 years of Marathons it's all like one big blur at this point. At any rate I can't wait to see it on the big Screen.

After listening to the podcast, which clearly laid out where a few of the movies might fall (and not feeling like working today), I went back to change my schedule guess:

SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES
THE ABOMINABLE DOCTOR PHIBES
PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE
POSSESSION
WHITE ZOMBIE (once again, debated swapping this and Phantom)
THE DEVILS
DEAD ALIVE
VIDEODROME
KILL LIST
WEREWOLVES ON WHEELS (would they DARE give us a double dose of lycanthrophy???)
AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON

Final answer. Maybe. Possibly.

First to point out Kill List isn't a premire. I'm looking at the Blu Ray case.

Anyway here is my two cents.

Something Wicked This Way Comes. To ease into the horror marathon.

White Zombie Due to the slow pace of the film.

Dr Phibes To start into the harder horror films.

Phantom of the Paradise Start of the cheese block

Werewolves on Wheels. To end of the cheese block

The Devils to start the supernatural block

Posession to end the supernatural block

Kill List

TBA

Videodrome

Werewolf in London

Dead Alive

Note I posted to the topic in March. Count this as a revise list.

Hmm is it to late to track down the trailer for slither in espanol? If Joe and or Bruce can find the Tim Burton short Vincent in German, why not the trailer for Slither in espanol?

I'm sorry I will not be able to attend this year due to work and a second Chicago marathon the same weekend (tough life I know). I think the Columbus marathon has the most interesting and best lineup of the three though. Here's my best guess for the lineup:

Werewolves on Wheels
White Zombie
Something Wicked This Way Comes
The Abominable Doctor Phibes
The Last Circus
Kill List
Posession
The Devils
Videodrome
Phantom of the Paradise
Dead/Alive
American Werewolf in London

This is a tough one to program with 3 pretty intense psycho-sexual thrillers in the mix. I like the idea of bookending the marathon with werewolf films, though I guess you could start with White Zombie and end with Dead/Alive...
