We're pleased as punch to announce that Spanish madman Alex de la Iglesia's THE LAST CIRCUS (in 35MM!) has been added as the 12th film in the Nightmarathon lineup! To call LAST CIRCUS the ultimate three ring horror film would be an understatement. To call it a loving tribute to classic horror films would be selling it short. To call it a tragedy, a comedy, a depraved collection of eccentric anti-heroes and villains, a wild ride of debauched sexuality and hyper-violence.....well, can you tell that we're especially stoked to see this with a Marathon audience?

We pursued several premieres, but the bigger ticket ones were unavailable and a few small scale ones didn't quite fit into the slot we were looking for. It's always a challenge to assemble a Marathon lineup; as many of you have experienced in the past, a good lineup on paper sometimes doesn't feel the same in practice. As a result, we've striven to assemble a slate of films that work together as a well-paced experience over the entire 24 hours. We get the feeling that THE LAST CIRCUS will help to achieve that sense of pacing. And we're willing to bet that those of you who haven't seen it will be enthralled with its twisted charms.

Nice!

Heard great things about this one. I guess this will make this the first marathon in a while without a "premiere," but if you ask me that is merely a semantic argument, especially in this day and age of widespread VOD. THE LAST CIRCUS and KILL LIST aren't technically "premieres," but probably weren't seen by a lot of folks, and as a bonus are both being presented on 35MM FILM. So there.

I guess this makes this year a year chock full of oddball "double-features."
Think about it...

THE LAST CIRCUS <---> SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES
POSSESSION <---> THE DEVILS
THE ABOMINABLE DR. PHIBES <---> PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE
WEREWOLVES ON WHEELS <---> AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON
WHITE ZOMBIE <---> DEAD ALIVE

I don't know if there is a way to connect KILL LIST and VIDEODROME, but if someone thinks of one, no spoilers please...
