Way easier said than done, IMO. I feel like anytime there's a "remake" it's hard not to do a side by side comparison, even though some are indirectly a remake but carry the same name (i.e. The Thing, to a certain extent Dawn of the Dead).

Why does everyone think that "The Thing" (2011) is a remake? It REALLY doesn't help that they decided to call it "The Thing" instead of absolutely anything else, but one need only watch the end, not even the whole movie, of it to see that it is a prelude to the beginning of John Carpenter's The Thing.

Spoiler: show
A large portion of the plot deals with the main character being sleep deprived, this would not keep people awake at 3am

I have to disagree. I think this would be ideal for people who are sleep deprived, sort of a horror film JUST FOR sleep deprived people to watch, for fear of the Babadook coming for them! ;)

Huh, I guess the whole "indirectly but carry the same name" threw you off, oh well.

It is quite obviously a prequel, which people would know if they had actually watched the movie. I'm not defending the movie's entertainment value or saying it is the best movie ever made, but just calling it what it is. If it is a remake, why does the dog run away at the end, which lines up so perfectly well with the beginning of its sequel, 1982's The Thing? Not to mention all of the other events in the movie which explain things in 1982's The Thing, like how Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning explained things that happened in the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I think maybe why so many people don't acknowledge this as a prequel is because they hate that this movie has anything to do with one of the greatest movies ever made. If someone is going to misjudge a movie by calling it something it's not, at least actually watch it to know for sure. Trust me, I have seen the movie. It's a prequel, and all the hatred for it in the world isn't gonna change that.

I didn't mean to drag this forum off subject, so let me draaaaag it back into place by suggesting a movie that is LONG overdue to be shown at the horror thon, a classic B movie that is pure cheesy low budget horror gold! The one, the only.... NIGHT OF THE DEMONS!

Eli Roth's "The Green Inferno" is finally being released this September! This would make a solid addition, imo.

Rawhead Rex. Dayton Horrorama had a 35mm print last year. Any chance you could add it this year?

Just watched the Harbinger Down trailer a few days ago. The Thing on a boat.
I wouldn't count on Harbinger Down being available for the marathon.

What about Virus? There's another boat one. I watched it many years ago, but I can't remember if it was scary or not.

I could go for a boat marathon, but it would have to include Deep Rising and Piranha 2.
