If you like to watch pornograhpy that's on you. A Serbian Film was basically a porno.

Wow, you must be watching some really disturbing pornography. I've never seen any porn that had sex with newborn babies. Where do you find the stuff you watch? Not that I'm looking for that, I'm just curious.

I've only seen A Serbian Filth once. I don't know why Joe choose to screen a disgusting porno at one of the Horror Marathons. Or people who want to seek out and want to watch such disgusting trash.

Did Joe have some sort of a mental breakdown when choosing to screen a disgusting piece of trash that tries to pass as a film?

I don't watch porn. It is disgusting and degrading to women. I'm disappointed when Joe booked the film. He didn't think when he booked A Serbian Filth. He should be ashamed of himself for booking filth.

So what exactly is the motivation for resurrecting a 4 week old thread just to express an opinion that has been expressed numerous times before over and over again and even if said opinion were valid would still have no relevance to this year's event and in fact insults the organizer of said event?

Uh, thanks. Again. I guess.

Do you have any thoughts about the CAPA-run Drexel?

I was hoping we had put that topic to bed, so to speak. Again, there are no actual pornographic scenes in A Serbian Film. Whether you like the film or not, it's not "porn". Can we move on now? It's been a couple of years... do people really still care? and will, I was being sarcastic. I wasn't trying to say that you actually watch extreme porn. It was a joke. A sarcastic comment. I probably shouldn't have said it, as I should have known it would sail right over your head. My bad.

I believe Joe is on record as having given his reasons for booking the film. Is this going to continue to be an issue for years to come? Let it go already... it has nothing to do with anything that's going on now. It's over. A new year and a new marathon.

Anyway, let's get back to the topic of movies and the marathon, shall we?

How many porn films have you actually seen Will? (RHETORICAL STATEMENT! Do not answer.) I have yet to see a porn film that shows a woman's head being cut off while blood splashes everywhere, or a baby being molested right after being born, or a man killing himself and his family at the same time. If you know of any porn films that show such horrible scenes, please, name one. Your analysis of films is overwhelmingly simplistic and devoid of anything other than a first initial reaction that a five year old would give. Do you actually think about WHY "A Serbian Film" is so violent? No, of course not, just like anyone who calls the movie The Wizard a "90 minute Nintendo commercial", just because it has product placement in it. I don't see you complaining about "Irreversible" or "Martyrs". To compare "A Serbian Film" to a porn film is like comparing a horror film to a snuff film. Horror films have death in them, but they are not designed to satisfy psychos. Horror films are USUALLY far more deeper in depth and far more mature than even the sickest snuff films. There is nothing mature at all about snuff films, because they display violence for violence sake. There is nothing to be learned from a snuff film. There are no deep meanings involved in a snuff film. In the same sense, "A Serbian Film" has NOTHING in common with any porn film, except that it contains a lot of sex scenes in it. The point of having the sex scenes in "A Serbian Film" differs vastly from the point of having sex scenes in a porn film. With "A Serbian Film", the sex scenes are there to move the story along, to show how dangerous and depraved this new job the man takes is. With a porn film, the sex scenes are there only to illicit sexual arousal. I would think you would get the gist of "A Serbian Film", that it is sad, scary, sick, terrible and disturbing to its very core, and its ending lets people KNOW that, and does not celebrate or endorse violence. Anyone who DOES get sexually aroused while watching "A Serbian Film" should seek therapy immediately. I know, this is an old topic, but I really feel like expressing these opinions, and thank you to anyone that reads them.

Well getting back on topic I would like to see Deep Blue Sea appear at a Marathon. Could really fit in at either.

Deep Blue Sea has always been a fun little movie. I certainly wouldn't mind watching it again.

Deep Blue Sea
Deep Star Six
Deep Rising
Death Ship
Leviathan

Would all be fun and scary aquatic fodder for the Marathon!!

Deep Rising is one of my favorite movies from the 90's, it's just fun as hell. Nothing great or revolutionary, it's just full of great characters and for me everything clicks.
