If you like to watch pornograhpy that's on you. A Serbian Film was basically a porno.
How many porn films have you actually seen Will? (RHETORICAL STATEMENT! Do not answer.) I have yet to see a porn film that shows a woman's head being cut off while blood splashes everywhere, or a baby being molested right after being born, or a man killing himself and his family at the same time. If you know of any porn films that show such horrible scenes, please, name one. Your analysis of films is overwhelmingly simplistic and devoid of anything other than a first initial reaction that a five year old would give. Do you actually think about WHY "A Serbian Film" is so violent? No, of course not, just like anyone who calls the movie The Wizard a "90 minute Nintendo commercial", just because it has product placement in it. I don't see you complaining about "Irreversible" or "Martyrs". To compare "A Serbian Film" to a porn film is like comparing a horror film to a snuff film. Horror films have death in them, but they are not designed to satisfy psychos. Horror films are USUALLY far more deeper in depth and far more mature than even the sickest snuff films. There is nothing mature at all about snuff films, because they display violence for violence sake. There is nothing to be learned from a snuff film. There are no deep meanings involved in a snuff film. In the same sense, "A Serbian Film" has NOTHING in common with any porn film, except that it contains a lot of sex scenes in it. The point of having the sex scenes in "A Serbian Film" differs vastly from the point of having sex scenes in a porn film. With "A Serbian Film", the sex scenes are there to move the story along, to show how dangerous and depraved this new job the man takes is. With a porn film, the sex scenes are there only to illicit sexual arousal. I would think you would get the gist of "A Serbian Film", that it is sad, scary, sick, terrible and disturbing to its very core, and its ending lets people KNOW that, and does not celebrate or endorse violence. Anyone who DOES get sexually aroused while watching "A Serbian Film" should seek therapy immediately. I know, this is an old topic, but I really feel like expressing these opinions, and thank you to anyone that reads them.
