Okay ya mugs! You've been speculating about the titles for this fall's 8th Annual SHOCK AROUND THE CLOCK (which we'll be exclusively unveiling one week from today at SHOCK-O-RAMA). So here ya go: some hints as to what we'll be showing this year. The 12 films we've confirmed include, in part:

-An underrated film by an acknowledged genre master that's ripe for reappraisal and should be a lot of fun with this crowd.

-An underrated film by an acknowledged genre master which has subsequently gained more of a cult than the first underrated film by an acknowledged genre master. This one is tons of fun, gleefully flying off the rails at every turn. Should be a blast with the Nightmarathon crowd.

-A NEW DIGITAL RESTORATION of film by a director who might not be a traditional horror auteur, but whose work has gone over quite well at past Marathons.

-A strange (and probably highly enjoyable) film that I've been wanting to play in 35mm for many years.

-A great classic film with an iconic actor that is related to Jack Nicholson (the film, that is) in a way that might not be readily apparent.

That's all for now. See what you can glean between now and next Saturday!

Hmmmm...

Gut reaction:
Serpent and the Rainbow for #1 or another Wes Craven movie.
Targets for #5 (edited; Meant #5, but must have miscounted) -- fits two of the three clues, though "great classic" may be debatable ...

I will probably change these guesses several times.

All clues very tantilizing.

I'm going to guess something by Brian de Palma for #3.

For #5 - could it possibly be the musical version of Little Shop of Horrors?

I'm gonna guess HALLOWEEN III for this one

I was thinking De Palma for that one too.
Raising Cain? The Fury?

Amazing all the possibilities that open up when you use the phrase "An underrated film by an acknowledged genre master".

But Tim, I'm pretty sure that as nice of a guy as he might be, Tommy Lee Wallace isn't considered to be an acknowledged genre master.

Little Shop of Horrors was the first one I thought of about #5.

Some good guesses so far.....but sadly, none of them are right. But keep at it!

If they are wrong, wouldn't that make them BAD guesses?

Maaaaaaybe...or maybe those guesses (or at least some of those guesses) are a step in the right direction. Or maybe they're so amusing that they pass into the realm of good.

Has to be one of these:
Rosemary's Baby
The Abominable Dr. Phibes
Alice Cooper: Welcome to my Nightmare 1975
Count Yorga, Vampire
Friday the 13th

You've finally figured it out! Yes, the first half of the lineup will be a reprise of the memorable 1998 Pickerington all-nighter.

Although for historical accuracy, the term Nightmarathon appeared in Official Marathon Paraphernalia as early as the back of the program for the 1993 NIGHT OF THE LIVING DREXEL (conveniently available in the Archives section of this site.) So we're ALL paying royalties back to the home office when we use that moniker.

If the director isn't a traditional horror auteur, I wonder at which Marathons their work has played? Sci Fi? Rockpocalypse?
