Like the last few years, I won't be able to attend the Columbus marathon as much as I'd love to see everyone and enjoy the trailers and premieres. But as has become a tradition now, Chicago has 2 marathons I'll be attending which takes some of the pressure off of staying awake all night for both.

The first one is at the beautiful 700 seat Music Box Theater and will be mostly celluloid projection. They are going heavy on grindhouse this year with a line up that includes:

Street Trash
Torso
Dr. Butcher MD
Raw Meat
Popcorn
Halloween III: Season of the Witch (16mm)
Eyes of Fire
Eye of the Cat
Seven Footprints to Satan
Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein
More TBD

I'm more excited for this one because I love 35mm and other than Halloween 3 and Street Trash I haven't watched most of these repeatedly like the second marathon. And I haven't even seen three of the titles once.

The second one is October 22-23rd and is all digital but quality digital projection that a 35mm enthusiast like myself can appreciate.

Line up so far is:

DR. PYCKLE & MR. PRIDE (Stan Laurel Silent film with live
organ by The Phantom)

HOUSE OF FRANKENSTEIN (Boris Karloff, Lon Chaney Jr.)
Sponsored by House of Monsters

BLACK SUNDAY (Mario Bava!)

ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 (John Carpenter!)

50's Fake Trailer Shorts

THEY CAME FROM WITHIN (aka SHIVERS)
(Cronenberg Craziness!) with star Lynn Lowry in Person!

FRIDAY THE 13th Pt. 6: JASON LIVES (30th Anniversary!)
Director Tommy McLoughlin in Person!

HOUSE BY THE CEMETERY (Lucio Fulci) with star
Giovanni Frezza! Sponsored by Blu-Underground

EVIL DEAD 2: DEAD BY DAWN (Raimi Rules!)

INFERNO (Dario Argento Classic!) Sponsored by
The Secret Cinema!

THE GRAPES OF DEATH (Jean Rollin!)

THE OMEN (40th Anniversary!)

LOST BOYS (80's Awesomeness!)

Never thought of ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 as Horror but it would be a welcome addition to any marathon.
Tommy McLoughlin is awesome. I met him last year at a Horror Drive-in event showing FRIDAY THE 13th Pt. 6: JASON LIVES as well, he is super nice and approachable.
I just showed THE OMEN at a 12-hour marathon in my Apartment a couple weeks ago, still hold up and again would love to see this play in Columbus along with Damien: The Omen Part 2

That movie, along with some of the others listed above for the Chicago marathons, is on Shudder, which is basically Netflix but completely focused on horror. I think it's still technically in beta and I've run into a few minor technical glitches, but other than that I recommend it, especially since it's only like $4.99 a month.

I agree that I wouldn't call Assault on Precinct 13 as horror but it's a welcome addition. I usually try to stay at least until dawn at the Music Box and sometimes I even finish the marathons. With a second one the following week, I typically am not as militant, especially since it's all digital. This year there's a few, like The Omen, that I've never seen on the big screen or haven't seen since their release. I'm going to shoot for going the distance at both marathons but won't beat myself up if I leave early at one or both. These things don't get any easier with age...
