Interesting. Having only attended the ones here in town, I didn't realize that the trailers weren't a common thing. I've never taken them for granted though. Whenever I mention the marathons to someone, the cool as hell trailers are one of the first things I bring up.

I was lucky enough to be able to make the last sci-fi marathon this year after a 4 year absence. It was truly great seeing all the old trailers and shorts-especially considering how hard it is to get 35mm features. The trailers are definitely missed by me in Chicago.

The other downside of the Chicago marathons is that between the 2 marathons, we only get 1 premiere! Give Joe and Bruce some extra love for getting you 3 premieres! The Chicago marathons each are in 700 seat theaters and sell at least 500 tickets or more in the country's 3rd largest city but only one premiere. You may not get as much 35mm, but you get hosts who really care and try to make it the best experience possible. Wish I could be in 2 places this weekend.
