Ben Chapman, the actor who played the creature in The Creature from the Black Lagoon, died yesterday in Hawaii. He will be missed.

That and King Kong are two of the first monster movies I remember. I recall our elemntary school library had some books on each of the Unioversal monsters. (I didn't know it at the time, I just knew it was about the different monsters.)

I got to meet Ben several times over the years at conventions like FrightVision,Chiller,etc. Nice enough guy but he charged like $25 per autograph which puts alot of people off. Even Bert I Gordon who does shows now is charging $30. Got to stop this nonsense.
