So I pick up the horror marathon tickets on Saturday for me and my firends. My son, who is five is looking at them. He asks about what movies are playing. The first film I mention is The Hills Have Eyes. It took a minute or so to get across that the actual hills don't have eyes and aren't alive and going to attack any one.

The next movie I mention is Let The Right One In. I mention that it is a movie about vampires. What I did not know at the time was during the week Sergei had watched something on TV that mentioned vampires. He was curious and asked Mommy about them. My wife told him what vampires are supposed to be and what it is they do. He thought they were disgustiung and nasty.

He told me, "They stink like a stinky butt."

He then asked, "Are you going to make me see that movie?"

I answered, "Not this year and not for a number of years. I think I'll let you start going to the SciFi when you are 8 or 9 and the Horror when you are in your teens."

He was quiet for a moment and then asked, "Can I wait to see the vampire movie until I'm 200 years old?"

"If that's what you want," I told him. "You can wait until you are 200 to see it.

His next question was, "Will I live to be 200?"

"Probably not," I replied.

"Good!" he said very loudly. "I'll be dead and I won't have to see that stupid movie."

He's a harsh critic.

The irony in this statement is amusing.
