It seems as though the rumor that SAW VII would be in 3-D was finally confirmed today. On his Facebook page, David Hackl (director of the fifth installment) let loose this status update: "SAW VII 3D pre production begins TODAY!! I'm so cranked."

He goes on to write: "The story is always the most important thing in my opinion. This time I want it to be a game for everyone. I want to create the effect of feeling like you are right in a trap."

No offense to you, but 3D doesn't really do much for me. I am curious to see what happens with Avatar, but the technology seems like it's in a weird place right now. It's hovering somewhere between gimmicky and tedious.

What I mean to say is, it doesn't really enhance my enjoyment of good movies that don't use it as a gimmick ( something like Up). And other movies, like say My Bloody Valentine, seem oddly not gimmicky enough.
