Infra-Kid, I hear what you're saying about basic cable and even local broadcasts playing horror, sci-fi, and cult movies. My first exposure to the Friday the 13th movies were from USA Up All Night. Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Halloween, Psycho, etc... played regularly on channel 43 (?) out of Cleveland. Super Host, etc... Those things did get me into horror and films in general. Now I work in film-though I've yet to work on a horror film since college. I totally get your passion and share it (though, not always for the same films). I'm glad to hear you agree about Season of the Witch. I think it might be one of the worst films you could play. It's not in any way a horror movie other than that George Romero directed it. Even he hates it-he says as much on the DVD. But a lot of marathons have played movies I hate, like Automatons.

Watching cheesy horror and sci fi movies is still available on the local OTA stations. WSYX DT2 is the This TV affiliate that airs Return of the Living Dead, The Time Tunnel, Blackula and its sequel and other cheese.

Since I already subscribe to HULU Plus and Netflix so I don't deal with Time Warner.

For the Z Grade drive in flicks RTV's Wolfman Mac fulfilled that need. For the insomniacs. WWWHO DT does air cheese from 3am to 5am early Saturday morning.

I know it's hard to believe, but I was one of the EVERYONE IN THE THEATER that hated Automatons...

Interesting mix of films. I think one of the reasons the Horror marathon never made it in Boston is because of the great disparity in sub-genres.
Classy Universal horror mixed with more redolent Hammer horror and then the NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD trend towards gore up to the current torture porn subset. It's an uneasy mix in comparison to the Science Fiction genre.

Glad you finally found a print of THEY CAME FROM WITHIN (psst Joe, where did it come from?). ISLAND OF LOST SOULS is, along with FREAKS, one of the rare 30s horrors that can still freak out modern viewers. SLITHER went over very well at Boston's SF marathon. PRINCE OF DARKNESS is one my favorite Carpenter films, though he was soon to peter out as a filmmaker. Is the 1910 FRANKENSTEIN short DVD projection???

And, don't forget - DON'T SLEEP!

Stay awkake for the whole thing! Here's a reminder of how: http://www.scifimarathon.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=823

As I pick up my flier and ticket (ticket number seven) I was able to take a quit look around the finished theater. It looks nice and they do have small bottles of wine. I did take a quick. look at their menu they do have subs, salads, appetizers, and the conventional fare. Remember buying from the concessions stand will keep this thing going.

That line up looks EXCELLENT! That is the best collection of films I have ever seen at any marathon so far. Truly awesome. I can't wait. At last year's horror marathon, a woman who looked like Laraine Newman sat to my left. Shortly afterwards, she got up for a while and then someone who I really wanted to sit beside asked me if there was anyone sitting there. I told her the truth, and then the woman that was sitting there didn't return...until hours later. If you are going to sit somewhere for the WHOLE marathon, let someone know, so that they don't have to WAIT for you, telling others that they can't sit there because YOU'RE sitting there. Thanks for ruining that for me. ;) These rude people behind me noticed that my teeth were chattering shortly after the marathon started. One of them asked "You're not from around here, are you?" I'm not from around here!? I WAS BORN AND RAISED HERE! I have been standing outside for over three and a half hours! Excuse me if I was colder than hell! You and your friends were standing outside for..what...a HALF HOUR? One of them said later "I wonder how old he is" or something like that, talking about actor Christopher Lee. You know what? I would tell you the answer, if you weren't rude. I know that it is bad to hold grudges, but I HAD to get that off of my chest. :D After the marathon was over, someone was outside talking to someone else and they said that they would describe the movie "Irreversible" as "foreign". Well, "foreign" is not a movie genre. It is simply a fact about the movie. ALL KINDS of movies are foreign: horror, sci fi, romance, comedy, action, adventure, fantasy, adult, documentary, etc. I myself would describe the movie "Irreversible" as a thriller and/or suspense. Once again, GREAT looking line up this year! Thank you, Joe and Bruce! :)

Remember folks it gets cold during the fall. Wear proper clothing. If someone think wearing a t shirt and shorts and complains about the cold its their own fault. We live in Ohio folks not Florida.

EDITED due to the small buttons and lag time on my Blackberry Curve 8830. (Darn 1XEVDO speed)

Dress in layers, and bring a jacket (a coat if the forecast indicates it.) The theater will likely trend toward the cold side, but you never know.

Comfortable shoes, too. I can't stress this enough. 24 hours straight in tight sneakers can really get to you. And if you're going to take your shoes off, try and be sure that you won't clear the aisle out when you do so.

I should (barring emergencies) actually be Living and Working Amongst You as semi-official escort to the Secret Bread Master, so I look forward to rubbing elbows with the rest of you. :)

Any new news about the Bread Empire? How about a DVD case insert PDF file for people who bought the first edition Bread DVD? The one that was sold at the Nightmare at Studio 35?

Actually, that might be very possible. I think there are still a few of the Authorized Bootleg editions left, and I can print a few copies of those labels if someone wants one (although clearly mixing your covers will dramatically reduce their black-market value.) :)

That was a standard-sized DVD case, correct? The Bootlegs were put in half-size thin DVD cases, but I can fiddle with them.

There may be further plans in motion along these lines, but if we do nothing else, I can possibly see about having a few of these on hand.

I saw an ad in this week's The Other Paper for the Gateway Film Center about their screening of Psycho on the 23rd of October. Is there going to be enough prints to go around or Psycho will have to be sacrifice?

We've had PSYCHO booked since May, so there shouldn't be a problem.

Did the Grandview get new seats, or will there be folding chairs again this year?
