Funimation has announced that it will soon start releasing "some wild Japanese horror films" on Blu-ray, starting with Vampire Girl vs. Frankenstein Girl, which has a street date of October 19. This film about the two classic monsters re-imagined as super-hot – and extremely lethal – Japanese schoolgirls was directed by Yoshihiro Nishimura (Tokyo Gore Police). It won the Audience Award at the 2009 NY Asian Film Festival.
Funimation will follow up with other Tokyo gore/film festival favorites, including RoboGeisha on November 16; and Alien vs. Ninja and Mutant Girls Squad on February 22, 2011.
