Quite the lame Marathon coming up:

A 6 movie Marvel's The Avengers 'thon.

http://www.deadline.com/2012/04/marvels ... s-out-am...

Sure, there are a couple of decent titles in the mix. But, I would find this numbing to sit through. Of course, it's selling out all across the country at $40 a pop. And, ugh, would this one be an assault on your ears....

I would probably go to this if they did one in Columbus

Tim, they are. The Lennox is doing one.

See, L.A., I quite like the Marvel films. Iron Man 2, is, IMO, the weakest of the bunch, but it's still better than most of the superhero films that have been release. But Iron Man, Thor and Incredible Hulk are all great, and Captain America is, I think, one of the strongest superhero films made ever.

And it includes a midnight screening of "The Avengers".

I'm not able to take the day off work, and I'm working screenings of "The Avengers" in costume the next night, but otherwise, I would totally do it.

The Marvel Cenimatic Universe is a great movie franchise. The ticket price is a tad bit high.

Well the sci fi thon have about 13 to 14 films. Compare to 6 films for 40 dollars. 8 dollars per film for the Marvel thon vs 3 dollars per film for the sci fi one. Witch is a better deal?

Your math is off. It's more like $6.66 per film (ominous!)

And I'm not questioning that it's more expensive than the Sci-Fi thon. But compared to watching 6 films at an AMC theatre normally? $40 is a bargain.

Just noticed that the Marvel Marathon has expanded to Cleveland. Perhaps it's also coming to a theater near you???
The price in Cleveland will be only $20.
Here's the link:http://www.cinemark.com/movie-detail.aspx?node_id=65734

Digging around, I discover that the difference in the pricing is that nationally Cinemark is charging half AMC's price. Also, Cleveland (Valley View) is their only Ohio site for the screening. The next nearest to Columbus is Evansville IL.

One time offer. Let me know right away & you can crash (We have 3 guest room beds!) at my place after the show. We are 20 minutes from the theater.

Rave Franklin Park is showing the Marvel marathon in Toledo. Looks like the price is $35.

Had not bumped into the Rave Cinemas showings.
Plugging an arbitrary Columbus Zip into their website asking for locations of the Marvel Marathon, I got:
Grove City 14 (10.51 mi) | map
4218 Buckeye Parkway, Grove City, OH 43123
Buy Tickets - 12:00 pm

Polaris 18 (11.88 mi) | map
1071 Gemini Place, Columbus, OH 43240
Buy Tickets - 12:00 pm

The Greene 14 (63.17 mi) | map
4489 Glengarry Drive, Beavercreek, OH 45440
Buy Tickets - 12:00 pm

West Chester 18 (88.12 mi) | map
9415 Civic Center Blvd, West Chester, OH 45069
Buy Tickets - 12:00 pm

ed. In addition to the Lennox, mentioned above, I also see that AMC has added a "Easton Town Center" to their theaters showing the movies in the Columbus area.

That's where I'm going.

I didn't find out about the $20 marathon in Valley View until after I had purchased my $40 Columbus AMC ticket.

I'll have paid more than double at the end of the day, because I have the refill cup and popcorn buckets from Cinemark. $3 refills throughout the year. Could've used those in Valley View.

But I'm really excited for The Avengers, so this should still be pretty cool.
