The practice of theatrically rereleasing classic films seems to be picking up steam, and the latest to get new theatrical bookings is John Carpenter‘s 1978 film Halloween. Carpenter’s movie solidified the slasher genre and wrote much of the roadmap for ’80s horror. It is one of the most successful independent films ever released, and for a long time was one of the most profitable movies, period, as it made nearly $50m in the US alone based on a budget of a couple hundred thousand dollars. On October 25 the movie will hit theaters again.

I'll bet it would be digitally projected.

Almost certainly. They aren't going to strike a bunch of prints for all these theatres for a one-night event.

That doesn't change the fact that for a lot of people, this will be their first chance to have ever seen Halloween in a theatre. So, you know, it's still pretty awesome.

I went to the Drive-in in Lancaster over the weekend and let me tell ya their Digital Projection is AWESOME, I have always loved the Drive-ins but sometimes the picture would be to dark (especially during night scenes) to see what was happening but not anymore, the Digital Projection is amazing and you can see perfectly. So I for one am hoping the show HALLOWEEN on October 27th during their Halloween Show.

All of the Real 3D movies I went to see was digitally projected at 2k and 4k resolution. 35mm is great but the format is going away.
