Here's some basic info from what I have read...

The original production company, IndieVest, took the film out of director Joe Lynch's hands and cut it down to 70 minutes. Then they held up the release for months on end while various lawsuits kept them from selling it to a distributor. Finally, a few months ago IndieVest put the film up for auction. An online petition went up urging whoever buys the film to give it back to Lynch to re-edit the film to his original cut. However, to my knowledge it still has not been revealed who bought the film, if anyone, so the film is still basically in limbo as far as the public is concerned.

This is all public knowledge, which is why I found it rather bizarre when a certain poster lambasted Mr. Neff for not trying to get the film for the Horror Marathon awhile back. At the time NO ONE was showing Knights of Badassdom, and they still aren't. Even showing a bootleg copy in public would no doubt bring on a major lawsuit. But I wisely (I believe) chose not to get into that argument at the time.

In this day and age lawsuit will killed any small inde movie theater. It isn't worth it to screen a bootleg of anything.

As of right now the smaller genre films are being release onto VOD with a very limited movie theater run. The prices of these smaller genre movies are higher than the average VOD offering. In Ohio the $6.99 to $9.99 price tag do fall in the average ohio movie theater ticket prices.

Now I did see the remake of Maniac on VOD. I was mildly impress on the Manic remake tailer. Eiljah Wood baised on the trailer can played scary crazy.

I know Wood looked a little scary crazy when doing Puppet Master.
