L.A. Connection, I pretty much agree with Joe. You're totally entitled to your opinion about THE MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH. You're entitled to your opinions/observations about how it went over at the Boston marathon. And you're entitled to share these opinions on this board. But presenting it as confrontationally as you did, as a "warning" to marathoners, has the tone of trying to scare people away, or badmouth the marathon or its decision to show it. I know that probably wasn't your intention, but that's how it came across to me before I read your reply to Joe, and I suspect it came across the same to others. Like so many other posts on this forum which have started heated discussion and ended up getting moved to the flamewar board, the exact same opinions could have been presented in a more measured and less confrontational tone and might have actually led to some healthy debate and discussion rather than pissing people off. To quote The Big Lebowski...
And, posting
THAT photo isn't increasing the "flame war" possibility? Who's really being inflammatory here?
I have already replied that it wasn't my intention. I apologize to anybody who thought it was.
Like I said, if a Marathoner (38 years; and active behind the scenes for almost that long) can't speak openly and honestly to fellow Marathoners, then all is lost.
