What is this? No guesses as to the Sci-Fi Marathon lineup that'll be rolled out on Saturday at TERMINATOR VS. LADY TERMINATOR? Sheesh, the ghosts of message board days of yore would be ashamed! Ashamed, I tell ya!
Okay, okay....I'll give you a few vague hints to stoke the flames inside your dark Marathoid hearts:
-We heavily debated how to construct the 30th Anniversary of the Science Fiction Marathon. Almost all classics, as was the case with SF10? A set theme? In the end, we chose to follow the formula that seems to have worked the last few years: a nice mix of classics, underseen films, and newer fare. Although if you look closely, there's definitely a sub-theme worming its way through the lineup.
-Two of the films are cult classics that we've wanted to show for quite some time. One could be construed as borderline Sci-Fi (which, I'm sure, will delight our old pal Will Cail when we finds out

), but it's a tremendous, powerful flick that doesn't get screened enough. And the other long-mooted film is one that we're quite frankly amazed hasn't played at a past Marathon, especially as it's directed by a longtime genre favorite.
-As with the last few years, we're bringing back some old favorites....although the long, storied reputation of one of them has often made its status as a favorite mildly questionable. Say this about it: it's built quite the cult following since its release. And it's very relevant to 2017. The other favorites more than earn their status, and almost all of them haven't played at a Columbus Marathon in quite some time (see the ALIEN/ALIENS double dip of 2015, which marked their first Marathon exposure in 20 years.)
I could say more, but that's enough for now. In the meantime, shell out a sawbuck and join us for all the fun on Saturday night, ya hear?
